I have both children and pets and this is a wonderful product. Instead of having to spend endless minutes toiling over every little stain, I set up the SpotBot and walk away. I run it a couple of times (I like to ensure the carpet is clean) and it's as if there was never any spill or accident. This product saves the backache and frustration over removing small accidents from the carpet.

I have two young dogs that are in potty training that i have to clean up after. That said, iv'e had a Basic (green) Spotbot for almost two(2)years. Don't waste your money on a blue unit..it's the exact same thing as a green one. Heres my take on this product. It works as advertized...however it uses ALOT of cleaning solution when used as instructed. I choose to pre-treat stains first & use hot tap water in the spotbot. When used for deep cleaning, the spotbot tends to soak the carpet alot. I use the hand wand to suck up excess water when doing this. Since it is 2 years old iv'e also had to fix this unit a couple of times. About 6 months ago the water pump quit working & i had to replace it, about a $25 fix..& i had to take the unit apart to get to it. Then last month it developed a leak from the line going to the water pump. Result...water dripping out of the Spotbot while using it. There was enuff extra tubing inside that all i had to do was cut out the split in the tubing (it was right at a fitting) & reattach it. I use the hand wand alot (too much really) It gets old being on your hands & knees cleaning varoius stains. For that reason i'm ordering a Bissell model 2080 compact power brush carpet shampooer. It says steam cleaner, but the only steam you get out of it is the HOT water you put in it. Overall...yes it performs well, but be prepared to spend alot of time on your knees working with a Spotbot.

I bought a Spotbot a little over two years ago. It suddenly stopped spraying cleaning solution. I don't know what happened, but I needed to buy another spot cleaner. I pondered whether to buy a Little Green Machine instead to save a few dollars.
Looking back, Spotbot has been a timesaver for me. It's lightweight and more portable than my full size machine. In fact, it cleans better than my full size machines (I've owned several), because it concentrates the cleaning in one small spot for up to six minutes.
CLEANING
I fill it with cleaning solution and water, set it down, press a button and leave until it's done. I can choose between surface stain cleaning (3 minutes) and set in stain cleaning (6 minutes). I have found that surface stain cleaning is all I really need, even for set in urine stains. When it's done, I use the hand tool and the manual mode to suck up more cleaning solution (a tip I picked up from earlier reviews) to make the area extra dry and keep the crop circles from being too obvious -- those round clean areas can really stand out. Every few months, I run the full size carpet cleaner over the carpet to make the crop circles disappear.
In addition to urine stains, I've cleaned up blood, diarrhea and red vomit (my daughter drank fruit punch). My husband didn't think for a second it would get out the fruit punch vomit, but it did.
My only gripe is the dirty water collection tank is impossible to clean. I just dump it out and rinse, but I cannot get inside to scrub it.
PROS:
+ gets many hard to clean stains out with ease
+ two modes: surface stain and set in stain cleaning
+ more lightweight and portable than the full size machines
+ hand tool for manual cleaning
CONS:
- broke after only two years
- cleans so well, it leaves clean circles all over the carpet (see above for ways around this)
- too difficult to clean collection tank
SUMMARY
When I thought about it, Spotbot has been so wonderful, I went back and bought another one.
My new one is just as great as my old one. Even better, the crop circle is drier than ever. I think they've improved that part. It used to be sopping wet, but I still run the hand tool over it to make it extra dry.

After owning a bulemic cat for a year I was fed up with sprays and scrubbing. I saw this on "I want that" TV show and I wanted it. I purchased it elsewhere but now use Amazon for all my researching and most purchases so I thought I'd give my 2 cents.
For the bad parts (and solutions I have come up with)
It does leave round spots (or boobs as my husband calls them) - use the hose and attachment to brush out any patterns.
Carpet is a wet - again use the attachment to suck up more water.
Uses solution quickly - don't use so much solution. I rented a Rug Dr and had a bottle of extra solution. I had run out of SpotBot solution so I used a small amount of Rug Dr solution. It works even better than the SpotBot stuff.
This thing is so easy to use, my two year old knows how to turn it on and off. He's figured out how long it will take and will rush to the machine when he thinks it's going to stop.
Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone with pets or kids. It really does a great job cleaning. It's very durable, we've been using ours for 4 or 5 years now, at least twice a month.
There are a few things I would change if I could, allow the hose to come off so it can be cleaned. Mine is disgusting, when I inquired about getting a replacement, I was told it would have to be taken to a service center. :o( I also wish it wasn't so loud. Can't hear much of anything if it's on in the room you're in.

When we got our Spot Bot we had 3 teenagers, 2 cats and a 60 lb dog living under one roof. Of course, they all created messes and stains. The SpotBot does an excellent job with most types of stains, and of course, the sooner you address a problem area, the better. You may need to experiment with different cleaning solvents based on the types of stains you have.
If you have light colored carpet (white or off-white) you need to know that the SpotBot will likely clean so well that it is obvious that the rest of your carpet needs cleaning. We have little round "super clean" spots all over our carpets which fade over time as these "clean spots" are exposed to traffic.
We appreciate our SpotBot and are very happy to have such an effective tool at our disposal.
