"Best Vacuum I've Ever Owned!" 2010-01-26
By Robin Hoselton (Jacksonville, FL USA)
I thought the vacuum I previous used did a pretty good job for my household of 2 cats and a dog. However, I recently adopted another dog which sheds horribly. In spite of more frequent vacuuming, there was always hair everywhere. After doing some Internet research, I decided to try the Bissell 3920 Pet Hair Eraser. With some reservations, I might add, because I'm skeptical about product advertising.

With my first use of this cleaner, I couldn't believe the results. After doing only one room, the dirt cannister overflowed with dog hair. Looking at the carpet before I vacuumed, it wasn't apparent that all that hair had been in it. Even the color of the carpet showed a subtle change, almost looking like it had been shampooed. Yes, it's a pain in the behind to stop so frequently to empty the cannister but I will gladly do that to have a much cleaner house. I heartily recommend the Bissell Pet Eraser.

 "disappointed -terrible vac-" 2010-01-23

i'm disappointed that we wasted a wedding gift card on this piece of "poop" vacuum cleaner. i strongly suggest DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM! we have a dog and cat -both of which don't shed a lot. the vacuum spits dirt, dust, everyting it sucks up back onto the floor -especially when we use the hose for baseboards and crevices. it somehow sucks in the smell of animal and blows it back into the air. the belt burns easy b/c the spinning brush element on the base of vacuum VERY often gets stuck and doesn't spin causing the belt to burn. the floor level dial doesn't seem to be of any use b/c the vacuum is a chore to push around. save yourself (and money) A LOT of frustration, headaches, and sneeze-fits. we contacted bissell and they were responsive but basically stated that it was USER error and we needed to clean it or take it for service...we haven't had it long enough (6 mths) for it to need service. DO NOT BUY!!

 "Far from satisfied" 2010-01-23
By MJR (Ohio)
Vacuum indeed picked up mounds of dirt. After using for about 20 minutes the color indicator showed I had a clog and the motor ran loud. I took apart the entire unit to look for the clog, repeatedly. I found no clog. Cleaned filter. Used vacuum a second time and brush stopped rotating and smoke was coming from the motor. Ridiculous. Cannot recommend this product.

"whats up with the nozzle function and Bare Floor selection?" 2010-01-21
By Disappointed in NJ
This vac is good if all you want to do is vacuum a rug/carpet - don't expect much if you want to use the nozzle attachment or on hard surfaces. I bought this vac because I have a Sheltie and German Shepard and it was recommended as a good vac for homes with pets. I immediately noticed a lot more dust around and this morning as I was using the nozzle to do the hardwood floor (because you can't use the regular vac on hardwood because nothing really gets picked up) I could see the dust particles and dog hair shooting into the air from the tube that the nozzle rests in when using the regular vac. Don't bother using this machine on hard surfaces - all it does is shoot the stuff out the back onto your feet and around the area - even if you select "Bare Floor" on the height selector the beater never stops and everything just sprays all over. Very disappointing.

 "It's great, but...." 2010-01-21

We have three dogs and a lot of hair on the carpet. We were using a Dyson that was fun at first but quickly became frustrating. I know the Dyson picked up hair because the canister always got filled up. But the Dyson had trouble picking up anything I could see on the carpet. I had to either hold the vacuum over the piece of yarn or pick up the yarn with my hand. And I always questioned how much non-visible stuff was left behind.

My mom got one of these Bissell pet hair erasers and was super excited about how great it works. I read a bunch of reviews and decided to buy one. I just got through using it for the first time. The suction on it is great, I could hear all of the dirt that was being sucked up out of the carpet, never heard any of that from the Dyson. I look around and the carpet looks clean, can't say that after using the Dyson.

This Bissell pet hair eraser is great, but... I had to empty the canister about a dozen times while vacuuming one bedroom and the living room. The canister is too small for the amount of suction on this bad boy. It's going to be a drag having to stop every few minutes to empty the hair out of the canister, but it still beats the Dyson.
