LITTLE GREEN MACHINE: What a great product. My carpeted stairs and my upholstered furniture look fabulous. Have two dogs and a cat who go out often, in our fenced in yard, and with all the wet weather we've had, the red dirt is a nuisance. The animals track it in all over the place, including the furniture. Have this sweet little machine at arms reach, practically, to refresh where the pets have dirtied, constantly. Perhaps when this winter weather and rainy season end, the poor little machine might not be put to use as often. It'll certainly need a rest then.

This cleaning machine worked great when it was brand new and I left it sit just as the instructions say so it is always ready to use. Then one day I wasn't getting any solution spraying out and I had a real mess to clean up! I took everything apart I could including the pump and cleaned it but it still doesn't spray. I give up!

This 'review' is based on 18 months of owning this machine, yet sadly, on only a half dozen uses.
This machine must be cleaned more thoroughly than I could have possibly imagined in order to maintain its functionality. That's right, just in order to maintain functionality, one must clean the heck out of this machine after each use. To be clear, if you fail to adequately flush the liquid cleaning lines, this will result the need to repair the machine, either professionally or by yourself. The good news is that the 'repair' can be performed by anyone with a spare 30 minutes on their hands whom also possesses a basic knack for mechanical repairs, a screw driver and a paperclip. It is my opinion that a cleaning machine must not require that more time be devoted to maintaining the functionality of the machine than one should spend using it to perform cleaning tasks. I didn't purchase this unit hoping to embark on a new small machine repair hobby... I wanted to clean carpets and upholstery.
Imagine having to flush your transmission fluid every time you returned from taking your car out for a drive? Or imagine having to thoroughly clean out your dryer's exhaust line after every single load of laundry? If these scenarios seem like fiction, let me assure you... if Bissell manufactured your car or your clothes dryer, they would be your new reality.
To its credit, this machine worked marvelously right out of the box. As a 'single-use' machine, you won't be disappointed. Buy these machines as often as you like... then toss them out rather than re-using them to avoid frustration. For those of you looking for your $100 to go a bit further. Look for another machine.
The second time I attempted to use this machine, it would not feed the liquid cleaner down the spray line. I had only spent 15 minutes flushing the cleaning fluid lines... apparently not enough time. I took it to be repaired at a local vacuum shop. They fixed it, I used it again and then I spent 20 minutes flushing the lines before putting it back on the shelf in my garage. After a few months, I tried to use it again and guess what? I had to have it repaired again. The $50 repair bill was cheaper than buying a new unit, so I caved in and had it repaired so I could use the it once more. This time I spent 30 minutes flushing the line after using it to clean a small area rug before shelving it again for another few months. Surely I would be able to use it a fourth time without having to deal with the same issues as before, especially after devoting 30 minutes to flushing the lines and cleaning the machine? Wrong.
Mad as could be and utterly sick of paying for the repairs, I followed instructions I found online for clearing the Little Green Cleaner myself. 30 minutes later, I was back to using the machine without having to shell out another $50 for the repair. 5th time.... same issue. Unbelievable! This time I opted to NOT spend 30 additional minutes flushing the line after using it, because I would likely have to spend 30 minutes making a repair before using it a sixth time. That was a mistake, as I couldn't clear the line this time around. I ended up tossing the Little Green Cleaner in my Big Green Garbage Can.
I can wholeheartedly recommend that you do NOT make this purchase.
As a less expensive alternative to purchasing this machine, I want to encourage you to consider the following: buy an ordinary plastic spray bottle (about $2) with an adjustable nozzle, an inexpensive carpet and or upholstery brush (about $5 each) and a 5.5HP wet shop vac (about $60). Mix your carpet/upholstery cleaner as directed in the spray bottle.. spray the affected areas and brush soiled areas using a circular motion. Then use the wet shop-vac to vacuum up excess water. Pat dry with a clean soft towel.
This is the new method I use and I must say I couldn't be happier with my new wet/dry shop vac.
CLIFFS NOTES OF MY REVIEW.
I hated the Little Green Cleaner. It requires more maintenance than it provides use. Instead, buy a cheap plastic spray bottle, a carpet brush and a minimum 5.5 horse-power wet shop vac. Spray soiled carpet/upholstery areas with cleaner mixture and brush in a circular motion before vacuuming up excess water.

I had a couple of stains that I thought would never get out but with this little, easy to use, guy they came out in a minute or less! I am so amazed with this product. Definitely a good choice for anyone who might have old stains/pet stains.

I bought a green machine about 5 years ago for pet stains etc. Yhis worked well to get out the stains however through use it stopped sprayin. I purchased anothert one and used it twice.well it broke as the sprayer continued to spray and their was no suction. My parents had on my brother borrowed it for his stairs and it also broke. My parents did not use their machine much at all. I WILL NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT EVER AGAIN. I am going to try the spot Bot and hope I have more luck!
