"The vacum does what I need it to do for small jobs." 2010-02-18

This vacum does what I needed it to do which is touch up vacuming in high traveled areas when I don't want to do a major vacum job.

 "Not great" 2010-02-09
By J. Rudolph (PDX)
We purchased this vacuum several years ago for our apartment with all wood floors. The unit itself is just awkward. The hose disconnects from the unit every time I vacuum. The attachments fall off or come disconnected while using. Storing the unit is annoying, as it constantly falls over and gets in the way. The suction is mediocre at best. The HEPA filter needs to be replaced frequently, at a cost of $20 to $30 a pop. I would not reccommend this product.

 "It works, for now" 2010-01-23
By M. Smith (DC, originally UK)
There are many good things about this vacuum: the price is right, it IS very light and it picks up well. I have hardwood floors and 2 cats and it works very well getting rid of all their hair. The noise is pretty horrendous, but I can live with that (even if they can't!) but there are a few areas where Dirt Devil have skimped on design where they, in my opinion, shouldn't have.

Firstly it just feels cheap: the way all the sections of the handle & head fit together is not tight enough so you lose suction. The sections of the handle have a button that slots into a hole on the next section so they're sturdy and tight-ish, but the actual head just fits on loosely so it does, on occasion, fall off when you're vacuuming, but mostly you lose alot of suction here.

Secondly there's a small plastic arm that you can push out to wrap the cord around for storage. It's such a bad design. I've not had the vacuum for very long, but I would put money on this arm not lasting more than 6 months. I'd rather they add a little weight to the machine and had cord storage inside. This also means that when in use you have to unleash all the cord and carry it around so it doesn't get in the way. It's just annoying.

Lastly, I have to take the head off the hoover several times during each use to remove the hair from the brushes and get it into the hoover. My apartment isn't that big but with the cats there's more hair than your average household, however I can't help thinking that if they solved some of the issues with loss of suction I wouldn't have to do this so often.

All in all, it's a decent hoover for hardwood floors, but it feels like a temporary investment that will last a year, maybe slightly longer and then I'll get a different one.

 "Dirt Devil Canister" 2010-01-12
By GolfPro (Texas)
If you are a canister person you will like this vacuum. I have had Dirt Devils for a number of years and this is the second vacuum of the same model. My first one lasted for 8 years. I guess you can make and argument for it only lasting 8 years, but at the end of the day, I felt I got my moneys worth out of it. The motor burned out but I liked it enough to get a duplicate. What I like about it are the mobility (easy to maneuver, sling it over your shoulder if you like), light and easy to clean. Just wash the filter on a regular basis in it will last a long time too. The attachments are good and they are strapped to the main tubes making it easy to access. It has a strong suction. Perhaps the only negative is it's a bit loud, but not that bad. I have also had good service for the one time I ordered a replacement filter. Bottom line, it's a good buy.

"Terrible customer service!!! after sending me a refurb product with a missing part instead of a new one..." 2009-12-30
By A. MILLECAMPS (NYC)
Here is the email i just sent to Amazon.

Terrible customer service... :(

Just a short email to tell you how upset i am about your services. After waiting 9 days and after opening a box where the part of the vacuum were dirty (the girl on the phone told me it was a return vacuum) ... i realised that they were one part missing, I called your customer service who told me that the replacement was impossible because i erased the credit card info. Obvisouly during Xmas people have present and my dad used his credit card info to pay my vacuum and i didnt want to keep that info on my account. So I have to send back the item because of YOUR fault and i cant even have an exchange in the next few days. Here is what i have to do, i have to send you the vacuum, wait that your company received it. btw i live in NY and you are in Denver... Then you will send me a refund on that credit card, which is not even mine because it was present and then you will send me as a gift card some money on it to buy another vacuum and going back to the beginning.

Hopefuly this time i'll have a new one without any part missing, who knows...

However i will have to wait, without even mentionning the inconvenience of making sure to be home for fed ex pick up/delivery, About 3/4 weeks to buy and receive my vacuum that hopefully will work.

As a new customer, I'm very disappointed by your services.

I hope that you will take note of my case.
