We have 3 big dogs that shed ALOT - so we have gone through many of the lower priced vacuum cleaners. I decided to do some research to find a vacuum that might cost a little more but that would last longer. Our whole house is almost all hardwoods floors so I did not want to spend as much as the Dysons cost. I found this Shark Navigator and decided to purchase it. We have had it for 3 months and use it all the time. I love the fact that the filters are not in the same area of the vacuum as the dirt and dog hair - so I don't have to clean the filter each time I use it. I also don't have to spend extra money buying new filters since they are washable. I do not know if this comes standard because I bought the Navigator at another store - but it came with an extra set of filters to use so you can still use your vacuum while you are washing/drying the original set. I also like the way the Navigator empties - with a push of a button right over the trash can - so I don't get dirty in the process. The best part of this vacuum for me is the pet hair attachment. I have never used any other vacuum or attachment that has been able to get ALL the hair off of our furniture until now. If you have pets that shed I would definitely recommend paying the extra cost for the model that includes the pet hair attachment.

After reading a lot of the other reviews, I was still wondering how good the SHARK would be. Well it is just GREAT. We have an Oreck, which my husband loves, but when we used the SHARK on the same rugs that had just been cleaned, we were amazed at how much cat fur came off the rugs. And it happened on every rug in the house. The Oreck did a fine job picking up dirt, but the SHARK was a 100 times better at getting the fur. We didn't even realize we had cat fur on the rugs. The looked fine...but there it was, fur, fur, and more fur.

I bought this machine and found it horrible.
It does fine on the hard wood floors and area rugs but for serious wall to wall carpet it is awful. The customer service number is either busy or made me wait for a long period of time. If you do get thru, you are directed to India to speak with people that have thick accents. Finally I did get someone that could understand and he told me that vacuum is not meant for deep cleaning. I will be returning this unit. You can get something much better for the $200. I am starting to think all these reviews are made up as someone else already posted.
