I bought this because I thought it would make a tedious chore less so. Not the case. It's hard to push around. It's fine for superficial dirt but I had to hand clean spots. Yeah, you don't have to use chemicals but if I used really hot mop water I would do about what this steamer did.

This steamer does everything I expected and is less expensive than most floor steamers. I had expected to have to use distilled water in the unit and it is easy to refill and work with. it is also light weight and the handle retracts enabling you to store easily in a tight place.

I ordered this because it was a great price and had pretty good reviews. It also had more watts than some others costing more. After using it I feel you need one with much more watts to really get your floors clean and for the water to get hot enough to dry quickly. I tried it on my sealed hardwood floor and was not satisfied with the results. I had to hand dry and it left my floor looking dull. On the ceramic tile it didn't clean as well as I had expected. All in all I am sorry I didn't spent a little more up front and get a more powerful machine.

I bought the basic model of this machine (SF 141) at Home Depot. The technical features(wattage...) are basically the same. The only difference is the handle and shape of tank which are somewhat more basic.
Granted the tank is rather small (I need to refill it to finish my kitchen- but I do not fill more than 200 ml), the cord could be longer and I am careful with the handle which might not be the sturdiest. But I paid only $29.99 for it. Reading the other reviews, the temperature might not be high enough to sterilize . At first use, I was kind of disapointed, not having one of the top machines. But
1) after washing the pads, the machine did a better job.Actually I like the pads-they are expensive though. I tried substituting Hahn's but they do not stick as well on this machine.
2) keeping reading about steamers, some people commented that the sealer of the grout between their tiles got damaged or the finish of their floor was lifted by the high temperature. My bathrooms are ceramic tiles but my kitchen is an Armstrong type of floor. They will be less likely to be damaged. I do not see the necessity of sterilizing my floors- I do not have children/grand children.
3)Before I start using the steamer, I vacuum or sweep the floor. If there are spots which would require scrubbing, I spray them with a little cleaner before I start steaming.
All in all , I am satisfied with my purchase, it sure beats dragging a bucket. The machine is very light, it is a pleasure to use, and I do not mind using it daily, as it does a very fast job,--- without dishpan hands, nor back pain. I use regular tap water and a little vinegar hoping to counterattack the hard water. But for the price, I am not going to buy distilled water.

I owned a cheaper Lysol steam mop, which suddenly stopped working one day. Apparently you must use vinegar periodically to unclog the machine as minerals form your water build up. The Lysols instructions didn't say that, though this units did.
The two pads it comes with every easy to attach and remove, and are quite thick and durable. They come out clean in the wash, but arent dryer compatible. The mop heats up fast and does a good job. The mophead is broad for open floors, but the unit could have been designed to get into corners easier. The adjustable handle is juuuuust tall enough for me at 5ft 11. Taller people will have to bend a little.
Overall its a solid value.
