Hardly comes close to stretching 20 feet. Stick with the one that comes with the vacuum as it appears sturdier too.

This a useful addition to the Hoover vacuum, but as others have noted the 'stretch' on the hose is very stiff. Although I haven't measured it, I seriously doubt it is capable of stretching out to a full 20 feet. We don't have stairs in the house, but bought it to use in those hard to reach places - plant shelves, high ceilings, etc. - and it is handy for that although a bit bulky because of the stiffness. In short, it's tightly coiled and will pull over the vacuum when you're trying to stretch it out. If you need extra vacuuming "reach", this is your only real choice.

I bought this for my Hoover u5140-900 Tempo Widepath upright bagged vaccuum and it fits perfectly. It's not as long as you think, but will stretch out if you need to. I waited till I got my vacuum to see if I needed the extra hose and you sure do. It stays attached, I just loop it over the top of my vacuum. And I didn't see any loss of vacuum with the extra lenght.

The extension hose makes it much easier to reach things. I took the advice from one of the other reviews and filed off the tabs on one of the hoses so that I could attach it to the hose that came with the vacuum, therefore giving me an additional few feet of length. Works great! Well worth the $.

As with another reviewer, I agree that this thing has so much recoil that it just yanks over the fairly heavy vacuum.
On the other hand, it does provide a lot of reach and I can lay the handle of the windtunnel on the bottom stair and reach nearly to the top with the 'upholstery' tool. Very nice.
It is also quite useful when I have to vacuum the ceilings (grumble grumble _- if you EVER have the option of a 'smooth' ceiling of popcorn, choose smooth! The popcorn hangs onto everything. Our ceilings are 20' UP and everything hangs onto it. I need to rent some scaffolding and take down that popcorn crud, apply some tape (as I am sure it was a cheap-o job done by the contractor - and and then.. Well, then I'll have to paint.)
Sorry, offtopic there.. But, I like this hose and I would buy it again as it comes in handy, but you have to be aware that the minute the suction starts, it will attempt to retract itself back to fully 'compact' - if you are small, it might pull YOU rather than the vacuum.
The vacuum? The windtunnel is the BEST. I wouldn't have one of those silly 'bagless' types. Not with 2 big 4 legged biological hair manufacturing plants that are omnipresent in the house!
Cheers!
