I bought this several years ago. I would get a 1.5 liter bottle of wine and sometimes I would take a couple of days to finish it off. Well sometimes the air didn't get sucked out, sometimes it bled out.
Foodsaver I suggest you come up with some sort of color system where some part of the bottle stopper changes color, blue for instance would mean the air has been sucked out of the bottle, red would be air in the bottle. The only way I could tell if the air had been removed was by trying to remove the stopper and sometimes that action would allow air in.
I would lower my rating to 3.5. I like the stoppers (4 stars), but they have problems (minus half a star).

I notice that a few people had stoppers that leak. I would send them back if they do, because the ones I was shipped work like nobody's business. Even after several days, they are air tight in a wine bottle. By far the best way to seal a partially used bottle of wine I've come across, and I've had several different vacuum seal pumps for wine. After several days, it still tastes as fresh as the day it was opened.

These are great for me because I love to dine with a glass of good wine, before I had to either finish the bottle or force the cork back in which provided regular results, now the wine last longer for me to enjoy preserving almost the same properties, of course nothing will keep it from changing as you all know.

They work for me. The Foodsaver imstructions tell you that the bottle needs to be kept upright in order to maintain the vacuum seal. Some have complained about leakage but a bottle that's kept upright usually doesn't leak.
They work great for me and my purposes --- I just want to keep wines and oils fresh after they're been opened and, with this stopper in place, the bottles sit happily on my pantry shelf all sealed and protected until I want to use it again.
My only peeve is that they only fit narrow-neck bottles. They work in wine and liquer bottles but not in the larger-necked oil bottles. I save empty narrow-neck bottles and transfer oils into them but the Foodsaver company would make me very happy if they made a larger sized cork for oil, juice and syrup bottles.

I am a big fan of the foodsaver and all additional accessories. The Bottle Stoppers work great on wine bottles. It's like a new bottle of wine every time!
