I'm the type of buyer who will look at tons of reviews before making a purchase. I also don't mind spending a little more on quality. I'm glad I was so patient because all I have to say is that vacuum does everything it states and then some. I just had my carpets professionally cleaned and was very surprised to find what the vacuum picked up. Perhaps I should ask for some money back from the "professionals"?! Anyway, the Bissell 16N5 is worth every cent. Very easy to use and sleek. Very satisfied.

After taking the Dyson back since it was an over priced rug sucker I bought this. looked like the best for the money vac. Should have looked at the high use parts a bit more. They are made of cheap plastic. The hinge broke of the dust bin. Yes it has a 5 year warranty but after Bissell sent me the wrong piece two times, it's just not worth it... We use the Vav everyday for dog hair and dust. I need to look for a better made system that can handle the job. Miele is next for me....

Bought the vacuum in December, lasted till March. Noticed a change in the way the motor ran and then it just stopped working all together. Frustrating to research something and then have it break down. Amazon only allows 1 month for its return, now i have to work through Bissell and probably shell out more to get it fixed.

I was a test engineer in my previous life and in the past 50 years I have used every different major brand of vacuum including Dyson and Oreck. When my Bissell Lift-Off died after 6 years of rigorous usage, I wanted to replace it with something under $300, and with better suction. After reading hundreds of customer reviews, I was very discouraged. Nothing stood out as a best-buy, even Consumer Reports recommendations were dispelled. I browsed on-line and in stores with an open mind, willing to pay a bit more for better performance and reliability. Knowing how much I liked my previous Bissell, I was leaning in that direction when I chose this Bissell Healthy Home model. I was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised when it picked up kibble and lady bugs from bare floors. The old Lift-Off just pushed them around! I was excited about using the stair brush which makes up for having to repeatedly carry the entire vacuum up the stairs (3-story home). This vacuum weighs about 21 pounds. It is robust (like the Lift-Off) but it's weight may be considered a draw-back to some. The drop-out bottom dust bin reduces dirt kick-back when emptying. I love that !! It cleans/sucks better than the old Lift-Off model, is easier to clean and is easier to push. I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner.

My boyfriend and I were ready to spend about $420 for a Dyson. We have many animals, and needed something close to industrial strength. I am very ocd, and like to vaccum. We were looking for a replacement for our junky Hoover that was a total piece of crap. I read some reviews by people saying they had actually bought a Dyson, but returned it and bought this one instead, which they found to be better than a Dyson, and half the price. So we got this one instead, and I absolutely adore it. It's very powerful and picks up EVERYTHING from our area rugs, which get covered in animal hair and dirt from plants getting knocked over and general traffic. We empty it often, so as not to clog it, and that's very quick and easy to do. Much better than messing about with bags and having to buy them. I can't believe I owned a vacuum that used bags for as long as I did. Ugh. I also really like that it's heavy. It feels like it has POWER, like a machine that's going to really perform. But the height of the sweeper is easy to adjust for different areas, and that makes it easier to move around and makes the task more effective overall. The attachments are easy to use and access, and we enjoy turning on the rotating brush feature. I also like that I can use it to clean my furniture, and I also don't have to worry about the thing tipping over when I pull on it because it's pretty heavy, unlike my old featherweight piece of garbage. I'd rather have to lug it around if it's going to act like a monster on debris and animal hair instead of just going over it. And lastly, I am also very fond of the color of the vacuum. It's a soft, light, moss green. It's really nice to look at, and doesn't look at all generic or boring. I enjoy taking out the vacuum now, and I'm so glad we got this one instead of a Dyson, which I actually think are ugly and look like they're made of cheap plastic. As long as this vacuum continues to perform well, I'll be more than happy with it in every way. I bought it for $200 at Target.
