 "Great little cleaner!" 2010-05-10
By rare bird (Missouri)
Perspective: We have the Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5914-900, which is excellent for deep cleaning carpeting, steps and upholstery. It is heavy to move up and down stairs, however, and a lot of trouble to drag out, fill and use for a minor dog accident on the rug.

We also have a Bissell 1425B Little Green Proheat Turbo Carpet Cleaner (same price and about the same weight as the upright Quicksteamer) that we have not found to be particularly efficient with dog accidents, and it requires a lot of arm power while down on hands and knees.

This little Bissell 2090 Quicksteamer Multi-Surface Deep Cleaner is terrific for taking care of dog accidents. I can carry it up or down stairs with one hand. The solution and recovery tanks are very easy to fill, install, remove, empty and rinse out. They hold enough to clean a 10 X 12 bedroom that is lightly soiled.

The suction is not as strong as a machine with a larger motor, but it is strong enough to pick up 90% of the cleaning water if you go back and forth over the saturated area repeatedly until you NO LONGER SEE WATER BEING DRAWN INTO THE RECOVERY TANK. (This is another advantage - you can watch the solution recovery process during use.) I recommend this cleaner as a supplement to a full-size carpet cleaner, and an alternative to the Little Green-style cleaners. Will return with hard floor cleaning comments.

 "Bissell 2090 carpet cleaner" 2010-05-01
By Camille L. Robin (Minneapolis)
I am very happy with this carpet cleaner. It is narrow enough for me to do my stairs, so I didn't need the extra expense of a larger machine. It did a very good job getting old stains and cat hair out of my carpets. The carpet dried quickly...a couple of hours, about the same as using the commercial guys to clean my carpets. It is nice and light weight and easy to clean. I couldn't buy this at Target, so Amazon made it easy to purchase and it shipped right to my front door. I recommend this carpet cleaner.

 "Loving it!!" 2010-03-26
By Tracey S. Bauer (Minneapolis, MN USA)
SIZE - Yes, it's small...but so are the three rooms that I actually have carpet in. If I had a fully carpeted home I probably would have invested in something bigger. As for this one, I paid ~$100 and thus far it has fully met my expectations.

PERFORMANCE - I had not really cleaned my cream-colored carpet since purchasing my home three years ago. They have sustained abuse from cats yakking, multiple home-improvement projects and learning not to wear our outside shoes on the light-colored carpet. I did two things that other carpet cleaner reviewers suggested: (1) pre-treated spots and/or heavy traffic areas and (2) subsidize hot tap water with 50% water heated in a small teapot on the stove...but be careful if you do the latter! I went over the carpet several times the first time (especially the main traffic areas) and there was still a lot of grime showing up in the water, but the carpets look totally renewed now. My plan going forward is to do one room every couple months (or at least the main traffic areas of that room) so that it isn't such a big chore each time (I spent the better part of a Saturday my first go round but the second time less than an hour for a room). I also invested in some carpet moving discs for the next time I want to move furniture around, which should help. :)

PERFORMANCE - I have not yet tried it on the wood floors in my house so I cannot comment on that. If I try it in the future I may come back and update, but this was not my primary motivation for purchase.

CLEAN UP - I found that there are several little parts that come off to help reach all the places where junk can collect. I vacuum regularly and vacuumed thoroughly in preparation but still had a lot of hair in and around the roller my first time over the area (both people and pets :D). I used a cotton swab to quickly scoop/scrape out the hair up around the roller. I recommend rinsing well and letting all the parts dry overnight before storing to avoid a funky/musty smell in the long-term (including the bottom of the cleaner itself...I layed it on it's side). The cleaner is small enough that I even held it up in my sink and sprayed out the roller with my sink sprayer when done.

OVERALL - I've only owned the item for a couple months but I think it's definately worth what I paid and appears that it will hold up. Parts are easy to remove & replace and it's compact yet effective. It also came with one bottle of cleaner for both hardwood & carpet, which was unexpected and convenient. I would DEFINATELY recommend to others.

"Very light and easy to use, does an overall good job!" 2010-02-14
By S. Ryle (GA, USA)
Lightweight - the lightest carpet cleaner I've ever used, and it's easy to empty. I really like this cleaner, it overall does a pretty good job, though I had some pet stains on light carpet that it did not fully remove the stain, even after pre-treating the stain. So I give this a 4/5 for that reason alone. Otherwise it is a good cleaner, and for the price, you can't beat the job it does.

"Light weight, fairly quiet and easy to use" 2010-02-06
By Denise Cortelyou
Received it this afternoon. Putting it together took just a few minutes. It's a perfect size and nicely cleaned the puppy stains all over the carpet. I had to go over some a couple of times but it did take out the stains. I will never go back to the big Hoover I have. The QuickSteamer is so much quieter and easier to control along with fitting in smaller hard to access spaces. A breeze to clean and easy to store.
