"Good light-duty sweeper for small dry debris/leaves only" 2010-09-18
By Mr. Matt
I reviewed others' comments and the significantly more expensive competition and decided to give this unit a try. I have a 20 x30 wood deck with a large locust tree over it which drops very small leaves all summer and into fall. This sweeper does a decent job of gathering the daily rain of these leaves. Now that it is mid-September we have a lot of larger leaves from other trees blowing onto the deck and the sweeper has a difficult time picking these up, and of course, it fills immediately.

I've used this to sweep leaves off the concrete deck surrounding my pool and it does a good job. My blower is not an option since the leaves always end up in the pool. Before purchasing the SpinSweep, I would haul out my shopvac to suck them up, which is a pain. I try to be careful not to abuse the SpinSweep on this area, because plastic does not fare well against brushed concrete. The coping is raised from the concrete deck and it is easy to grind the bottom of the SpinSweep onto the decking. Drains in the deck also pose a problem with the center of the unit digging into the other side of the drain when passing over it. If you are realistic in your sweeping, you will not destroy the product.

I recommend this cost-effective sweeper for light-duty sweeping only. If you don't abuse the unit it will perform well for you. Don't expect it to leave a pristine surface like a blower. I don't agree with other reviews which complain about the lack of rear wheels. The single, pivoting castor allows you to get creative with the sweeping path when backing up and repositioning the sweeper. If you don't want to blast debris all over like a blower, you will be pleased with the SpinSweep.

"Sweeper failed after one month!" 2010-09-08
By Rand H. (Phoenix, AZ USA)
Right out of the box, this sweeper worked great, making fast work of picking up leaves & so on from my patio & driveway. I did have to secure the knobs that attach the handle with Locktite, as they kept coming loose. Then everything was fine for a while. After just a month though, probably about 2 hours of use, the right brush stopped turning yesterday. Also yesterday, I had tried to adjust the "higher-lower" knob for the first time, from the original high position that it shipped in, & the knob wouldn't budge. I took the sweeper into a local authorized Hoover service center today & they will repair it at no charge, but they expect it to take them six weeks to get the replacement part(s)! I need a sweeper that is more reliable & available, so when it comes back repaired I will try to sell it to someone for only very light use, & get something else.

"Hoover SpinSweep is Okay but fails to be great" 2010-08-21
By Skyeisle (Scotland)
The problems with this sweeper are several. (1) the nubs out front designed to protect things are completely in the way preventing one from sweeping close enough. You have to use a broom to sweep debris to the center of the patio then use the sweeper. (2) Debris gets swept into and under the debris catch container requiring one to pick up the sweeper to dump this extra debris stash into a garbage bin. (3) Right wheel on my sweeper repeatedly loosens and falls off. The basic premise is good but the design is flawed.

"Okay for the price but I would spend a little more on a different Sweeper" 2010-07-19
By Wheelman
It works fairly well picking up leaves an grass. If you are trying to sweep a garage or warehouse floor then you have go rather slow to keep from spinning things off to each side. All and all it is a good unit, If I was to do it over again I would get one with additional side or rear brushes.

"Best labor saving device I ever had" 2010-07-06
By SusanED
My father in law got one of these sweepers a few years ago. When he was out of town I used it to clean his driveway. I was impressed by the way it picked up seed pods and small twigs and leaves which littered the driveway. I ordered one for myself since I have a large driveway, courtyard and patio. It worked so well that I ordered another one to give to my father for Father's day!
