I just bought this shop vac, and took it to my walk up attic to clean some debris from when the roofers were here. They left little wood pieces, dirt all over the floor.
I had both filters in the vac so I am wondering if I am only supposed to use the bag for this? I read the instructions and it looked like both could be used together. I'm afraid to plug it back in because I think the motor will catch on fire.

This shopvac is awesome. It has more power that I believed possible. With the adapter the I purchased through Amazon.com, I can hook up all of the household attachments as well as hook it to my saws, routers and sanders. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Bought one back in 2005 and it's still working well, sucking up water quickly off the basement floor - sorry to say but we get a little bit of flooding from time to time, when it rains a lot. And, believe it or not, we also used it to get the sand out of our pool filter a couple of times - several bucketfulls.
The things I liked about this vac are:
- 4 HP, 7.9A motor
- Simple construction - it's basically a bucket with an electric motor on top, a big hose and some accessories.
- Easy to take apart and reassemble. The hose comes off easily and so does the top.
- Nice drain, it would empty the 10-gallon bucket in less than half a minute.
- Easy to move around on 3 little caster wheels.
- Great suction power - it fills up the 10 gallons in a couple of minutes and would remove the water literally to the last drop.
One thing that could be improved is the length of the power cord. I could use more than 18 feet. And it would be nice if the cord could be detached from the vac, making it easier to move it around when the bucket needs emptying.
In spite of the little shortcomings, it still gets its 5 stars (translates into "I love it" on Amazon's stars scale) because not only do I love it but I'd probably buy a replacement if the one we have now stopped working. But, 5 years after we bought it, it did NOT stop working. Therefore the endorsement.

Purchased in August 2008. Never really happy with product. Hose very stiff and difficult to carry around. The shut off switch is so sensitive I could not even use the vac on my patio, everytime it went over a bump in the concrete the vac shuts off. Now, 15 months after I bought it, the motor burnt up. I doubt if I used the vac 20 times in the time I had it, certainly not a good investment. I will never buy another Shop-Vac Product!

I bought this vacuum three years; and it's still going strong. It is very quiet and powerful. And it has never failed to do the job.
