Bought this is December, but couldn't figure out how to put it on. It was time to clean my carpets again, so I once again attempted to force the valve in, even using some of the carpet shampoo to make it easier to push in. That's when the rubber valve came apart from the plastic middle. It took a minute to realize all I had to do was push in the rubber valve, then push in the plastic middle. It works great! It would have been helpful to have a few instructions.

I thought I was either going to have to purchase a new tank for my Hoover Steam Vac carpet cleaner, or a whole new cleaner. Found this replacement valve and saved $$$.

The only down side is that it doesn't come with install instructions, and it took a few tries to get it installed, but I did and it works like new.

This item came in a small plastic bag without any installation instructions. We had a hard time getting it to fit on place. It took a lot of force and we we weren't sure we were doing it right, without instructions. In the end, we got it in and it works fine. It is a lot cheaper to replace this valve than to replace the whole tank.

This is a genuine, improved, re-designed and more durable clean water and solution tank for Hoover V2 SteamVacs. The earlier design had problems with the valves breaking and leaking. In this new version the tank is redesigned and there is no separate solution bottle. It is all molded together with new and improved valves. The color is also different. Therefore, when you see the tank if it is not clear and tank solution bottle is not molded, chances are you are getting an older version or a generic part. Since the introduction of this version we have not had any consumer complaints.

My Hoover Dual 5 Steam Vac carpet cleaner has been leaking water and detergent all over my carpets when I tried to clean them. The green detergent tank fell off several months ago and I tried to "fix" it by taping it to the water tank. Needless to say, it didn't work. I ordered this new tank and wished I had months ago. I just used it to clean my entire house and it worked like a charm, even better than the original one that came with the machine. Hoover should have used this tank originally and saved their customers a lot of headache and messy carpets. The old tank is finally in the trash. Thanks for a great product! :-)

I was very disappointed when my Hoover tank split at less than 1 year of age. Then I found out EVERYONE's tank was splitting. This replacement tank corrects the flaws of the original. I give it 4 stars since I believe Hoover should have done the right thing - recalled the original tank design. Instead everyone must purchase a $45 - $65 replacement tanks which makes my shy away from Hoover in the future.

I bought the Hoover Dual V carpet cleaner five years ago. I loved it until the original tank sprung a leak. The replacement tank here is much superior to the original. It "fixes" the originals design flaw of weak plastic around the base of the water tank and also melds together the tank and soap holder so it's one unit not two seperate glued together. This saved me from having to purchase a whole new machine.

Wish I knew about the update to the reservoir tank a year ago. The original tank starting leaking to the point where it was worthless to even use the steamvac. I almost threw out the entire thing until I found this. Worth buying if you own a hoover steamvac and it is leaking. Believe me, it will only get worse.

I purchased this cleaner in July from Amazon. I thought it was awesome...until...December. It started spraying water all over the place and made a horrible mess...right before the holidays. I called Hoover and they replied that it was a flaw in the tank and they would send a new one in 7-10 days...ok I'll have time to clean up the mess before Christmas. It arrived 12-31. I opened it and it looked just like the other one, but thought maybe something was different. So I tried again to clean up the spots-mess from the December incident. Well it did the say thing. I called Hoover and the representative stated that sometimes the trigger gets stuck-blocked "whatever" and I should take it to a Hoover dealer for repair. Ok, BUT that is 45 minutes away. So I am trying to see what help I can get. About me, this is my first review that I felt necessary to write. I have been a faithful Amazon customer and delighted with the purchases and products in the past. S.Lee

I bought this vacuum because I got a new dog, and she has been going on the carpet regularly. I also had some dark areas on the carpet where my roommate spilled grape soda almost a year ago, splashes of black ink from when someone tried to refill a printer ink cartridge, a coffee stain, and just general dirt in high traffic areas.



The vacuum was very easy to assemble, and came with a small bottle of detergent (enough to clean about 4-5 average-sized rooms). I chose this particular vacuum because I didn't want the mess of having to connect the machine to a faucet while cleaning. The "clean water" tank was filled first with hot tap water, and then the detergent container was filled (to avoid any waste from possible spillage). The Hoover manual recommends that only Hoover detergent be used, and this should be followed since different detergents have different consistencies, and that could cause your detergent container in the vacuum to leak.



Altogether, the machine worked well and did what I expected it to do. The carpets looked and felt clean, and those stains I mentioned above were all gone...even the grape soda that I thought would never leave! My dogs seemed to be more comfortable and were rolling around and rubbing their heads/faces on the carpet, which they don't usually do. I also used the hand tool to steam my living room furniture and I must mention that when the fabric was still damp, I couldn't feel any difference compared to the way it felt before I started cleaning it. However, once the fabric dried, the couch felt very clean again and not like it had been in use for a couple years.

Bought this steamvac on Amazon, I just threw away $183, it leaks water everywhere, the recoverey tank dont fit right, fits very lose. it leaks wen it sucks up water. As far as cleaning the carpet goes, it does a terrible job. Give me my Bissell hotvac back. Dont waste your time or money on this hunk of junk.

I have had carpet cleaners in the past. This one is by far the best. It took a bit longer to clean the carpet than I had hoped. However, it brought the carpet back to its original glory. I was amazed how dirty the water was after I was done.

I bought this about 6 months ago, and have found it to be the best carpet shampooer I have ever owned! It is very easy to use, and the dirty and clean water canisters are so simple to put in and take out - I can just about do it with one hand! (Not like all the wrestling with hoses and stuff that I've had to do with the store rental units!) It's no more difficult to use than a vacuum cleaner, and it cleans really well. It is well worth the price. (Remember - if you rent one at the grocery store, even if the rental of the equipment is fairly cheap, you can pay a lot for all the crazy solutions. Rent a grocery store one a few times, and soon you will have paid the same as what it would have cost you to own this one. The convenience factor of having this handy any time you want it or need it is absolutely worth it! Buy this!!! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!
