I bought this cleaner to steam clean my kitchen and dining room tiled floors. The tile has a sculptured top, not just flat tile. I was looking for something to help clean the grooves and lower areas of the tile. This did not help at all. I thought the steam and water would loosen the dirt and the pad would wipe it away. Didn't work. The recessed parts of my tile are still dirty and I am returning this item.

Purchsing this product has been the worst experience in my life (my life of doing business online I mean). The first time I ordered it, from Go Vacuum, the delivery date came and went without a word from GoVacuum. I contacted Amazon.com, which bares no fault in this, and they also hadn't received any word from GoVacuum about the product. I contacted GoVacuum on my own cancelled the order and was told by a customer service employee that if I couldn't find the product locally, I could come back and receive a discount + a free upgrade shipping to 2 day air. In time I determined that I couldn't find the Haan Steamer locally and went back and contacted GoVacuum to take them up on their offer. The individual that promised me the discount of $20 and the free upgrade to 2 day air basically called me a liar and said that he never quoted me the afore mentioned. So I cut off dealings with that individual and spoke with a manager who proceeded to take my order promising me nothing but free shipping. Well, I finally got the order today, 5-12-09, and low and behold the order was not complete, it was missing the short handle. Needless to say, by this time I was very frustrated. I called and another manager told me that he would get the short handle right out to me, he did as promised. Then I finally got around to using the product, and low and behold after getting it ready to use and turning it on waiting for the steaming process, it finally started producing steam, but when I lifted it up to try it on the bed (to get rid of dust mites), water from the device leaked EVERYWHERE. Well, that was the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak. I immediately returned it. You might want to think twice before ordering from GoVacuum/and or ordering the Haan Vacuum, as I could very easily have been burned very badly. Thank God I wasn't. BUYER BEWARE!!!! UPDATE/EDIT: I've decided to give the product another try, in that there are lemons (so to speak) in all inventory. I will NOT however do business with Go Vacuum again, EVER. I hope my recent order of this product, which should be here on Monday 6-22-09, will be a better experience.UPDATE 2: Ok, I'm DONE messing with Haan products. I received my second one yesterday and it worked for about 1 1/2 mins before it started spewing out scalding water out the bottom. No more for me.

I was able to use this product to help with cleaning my kitchen counters and my carpet. I do like this product because when I make pancakes for example, the pancake batter dries on my counter and is hard to get up. With this product I was able to "steam" the batter sothat it was soft and easy to get up with a cloth. The same with my carpet. The product helps sort of bring the dirt and grim in the carpet to the surface, but you will still need to wipe the carpet clean with a cloth, brush etc. and perhaps some sort of carpet cleaner.

I read the other reviews and was very surprised because my experience was exactly the opposite. It did not clean my ceramic floor or my wood floors. Yes, it took off things like coffee stains but I could do that with a wet rag. The wood floors were left with a film that was very dull and the ceramic tile floor grout was not any different. There was not enough steam coming out to really do anything. Very disappointed. It will most likely stay in the closet until our next garage sale...

Holy steam cleaning batman! This thing is amazing. It revived my carpets. I have foot odor and my carpet by my coffee table was stinkin! (sorry to be graphic) but after using the HAAN on it, i cant tell! The floors are cleaner than ever. and the glass is shiney! One thing... On really dirty surfaces, after your steam, you should wipe with a damp cloth. the steam cleans it, but it scatters the dirt. A+++

I purchased the Haan-MS30 steamer last month and have used it several times. I really like the way it cleans the granit floor in the kitchen which has always been hard to clean with other machines because of the uneaven surface of the stone. I've also used it for the bathroom floors, shower doors and windows. The machine is very easy to use but the only thing I dislike is that it takes a very long time for it to heat up with a full tank (25 oz). I do like the fact that I can clean the entire kitchen, entryway and a bathroom with one tank though. Overall I think for the money it is worth it especially if you price other brands which are either very expensive ($500.00+) or some seem way to cheap.

I just received my Haan product a week ago - and I couldn't be happier with it. First of all - when the product came - right inside the instruction manual was a phone number where they actually asked you to call if you have any issues because they want you to have a good experience (I didn't call it - didn't need to).



The product was easy to put together, and very easy to use. I like the fact that it has a "trigger" for steam. A previous steamer I had once the water was hot enough, steam would just come out & you couldn't control it. It also has a locking mechanism so you don't have to hold the button down.



The pads are probably my favorite part. Unlike my other one where I had elastic towel like pads,this is actually held on by a velcro like action... you literally touch it to the pad - and it's on (and it stays). The to remove it I just hold down a corner with my shoe, lift up the handle & it's off.



I also like the "ready" light... so you don't have to stay there staring at the thing to see when it's ready to use.



I have 3 dogs, and one is 15 years old & constantly having accidents. I also have 2 little kids, so I want the floors to be very clean... Now I can pick up after my dog - turn this thing on, and in 2 min it's ready, and i know my floor is clean....



I've only had it for a week - so we'll see how it wears - but so far I really love this product!

I have had my eye on the Ladybug steamer for months now, drooling over all it could do but it was far out of my price range. I own the Envirosteamer steam floor mop and love it, but I wanted something to get into tight spaces like around the toilet, in the tub, the oven, etc. With some Santa money I got more serious about purchasing a canister steamer in addition to my floor steamer and began some comparative testing and studying. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood that is all "green built certified" which means, in order to have a green rating, all homes were built with no carpet and lots of people hate chemicals which means it's a neighborhood full of steam mops which makes comparing the models quite easy. That's a good thing because it just saved me over a thousand bucks because I wound up no longer wanting the Ladybug. Here's how they rate...you decide which is best for you:

Note: These temperatures are based upon using the small hose attachments. In every case that we used the long hose attachment included to turn these into a floor mop, the steam had to travel down the long hose so it cooled and wound up only being about 115 degrees by the time it reached the floor. Which results in very poor cleaning. Because of this, if you are wanting this mostly for floor steaming, I would suggest going with a steamer that shoots out hot steam directly onto the floor from its tank rather than through a long hose before reaching the floor as a canister mop does.

CLEANING:

For a controlled cleaning test, I mixed Dr. Pepper with sugar and spread it evenly across a 4' length of my stained concrete floor and kept the pets away until it dried completely in a gunky mess. I then tested each mop against it in lengthwise strips, moving them at the same pace after a full heat up, as well as testing each on its own strip of bathroom tile & grout. Here's who performed the best:

Tie: Ladybug and Vapamore. These, due to the really hot temps, loosened the gunk on impact and made it VERY easy to clean my floor. Their hot temps and heavier steam also cleaned tile the best but Vapamore actually did a BETTER job on uneven surfaces like tile with grout..but don't expect shiny white grout because it wasn't exactly returned to looking brand new either.

2nd place:Haan...but it wasn't nearly as good as the above two.

Last place: Reliable. Although the steam temp is hotter than the Haan, it doesn't shoot out as strong and only had 5 steam jets so this diminished its effectiveness Didn't come close to the V or L.



All were at temps to kill bacteria and sanitize without using chemicals such as counters and mattresses, unless you tried to turn it into a floor mop which I don't suggest because the steam was too cool to clean as well as a real floor steam mop made for that purpose..





Other notes: The ladybug was the most awkward to carry. It just wasn't made for carrying up stairs, etc.





Conclusion: Considering the Ladybug is over a thousand dollars more than any of the other mops, this was a real eye opener! I tested these with my friends and we all agreed, hands down, that the Vapamore was the best buy. And I love it! It cleaned the best BUT the Ladybug lasted much longer as far as cleaning time. However, Vapamore cleaned for 50 minutes prior to needing a refill which, for me, is all I need. That said, if you want to use this commercially and don't want to have to take time to refill, the Ladybug may be worth the steep price for you. Considering they have the same 3 year warranty though, I'd rather buy 4 Vapamores for the price of one Ladybug and have one in every room. I kid. The Reliable seemed to lack things that were just silly...like having a cord longer than my blow dryer and only having 5 steam jets.

What a job this does cleaning my floors! I use it for ceramic tile, hardwood, and for vinyl. The white vinyl floor in my kitchen really allows this product to show what it can do.



I used to do this floor only by hand, because it didn't look really clean using a mop or any other manual appliance. I had better luck once I started using the Swifter, but I was concerned about the expensive, strong-smelling chemical I was using, and about the disposable pads. Then I tried my sister's new Shark steam floor cleaner. It was fine, but did not deep clean. As I recall, it had only one steam jet! I noticed a lot of pull (surface resistance) when using it, so the job took a long time. And then came the Haan. What a wonder! It produces a lot of steam and really gets that old, cheap vinyl floor clean. It came with two wonderful pads, and I ordered more just to be sure I could do the floors in my whole house in one day. (Fat chance of my ever doing that!) The pads are cleaned well in my washing machine. I am so pleased I bought this brand because it really does the job! No more stinky, expensive chemical needed. Very smart purchase!

Very happy with this floor sanitizer. The slimness is very appealing and allows the steamer to go under cabinets up to the kickplates. I have a rough, tile flooring in kitchen and foyer that I don't actually mind washing now. It isn't going to do the grout for you, but I always carry a grout brush to get to the stuck on spots. The steam does make it easy to remove. There isn't a cleaning method out there that is going to clean the grout for you. It always needs to be done manually. If you know this up front, I think you will be happy with this purchase. Hangs on the wall easily when stored. Easy to fill the water tank. The cord is fairly long. Comes with 2 pads that attach to the steamer w/o bending over. You also can spray your floor with a cleaning solution if you want to and then go over the sprayed section with the steamer. I guess you can kill dust mites on carpeting, but this is not a carpet cleaner. I have used the carpet attachment and steamed my mattress. In the end, I haven't used my mop since this purchase and don't feel the need to either. Nice not to have a bucket to contend with. The pads rinse off nicely right under the faucet. I would purchase again and I do recommend this steamer. I also like to do my hardwood floors with this. Recently painted the LR and got paint on the floor. The steamer was very helpful in scraping the paint off the wood.

I like the Haan for use on ceramic tile and vinyl. I found it a bit dulling on marble, but it is time to reseal that particular floor. The only thing that it does not do well is grout, particularly white grout. I'd need a pad with a bit more "tooth" to get down into the grout area. It cleans it somewhat, but mine is a kitchen floor and gets a lot of traffic. I steam once per week (household of two adults who wear no shoes in the house). I hope Haan will come out with a fluffier pad to address this problem. This is a great value for the price, easy to use and very light. Caution: the pad is very hot immediately after use.

First off, i'd like to tell you a little about myself so that you can understand my view when writing this review: I am the type of person that has to do all the cleaning myself because I want it done a certain way, and no other way will do because it has to be just "perfect". Luckily, my husband was willing to learn "my way" and he does it that way and I don't have to worry about it. I am VERY picky about my cleaning. I used a lot of bleach for disinfecting and used to buy bleach by the gallons at Sam's Club because not only would I bleach my bathrooms, countertops, etc, but I would fill a mop bucket with bleach water and bleach my tile floors. When I clean, it's CLEAN. However, about 9 months ago I discovered "steam", and I thought, well, it's still killing germs, etc, etc, but, and i'm not using all of that bleach on the floors. Cause, let's face it, even though I would mop with the bleach water and do two buckets of clean water to rinse the floor, there's still going to be residue from the cleaner - bottom line.



So, as I said, I discovered the Steam mop. Went to the store, bought the Shark. My 88 year old Grandma was with me that day, she too bought the Shark. Ok, let me just say, I LOVED the concept of using the steam on the floor instead of mopping and using all of that bleach. WAS NOT happy with the pumping and pumping and pumping and pumping and pumping you have to do to get it to produce the steam. What a pain in the @## that is. Turns out, it's way more of a workout than mopping. You are sweating up a storm by the time you are done. It was getting my floors clean, it was, however the effort it took to get them there was more that I was willing to do. In the meantime, my mother became curious about steam cleaning as well, because, quite frankly, she too was tired of the mop and bucket. I figured there had to be a better option than this pumping my @## off stuff, so I started looking online and at first had picked out another brand of a "continuous steam" type steamer. I figured, ok, let me go to the local Vaccuum Store in town and see if they carry it. They did not carry that particular brand I was looking to purchase, however, they did carry the HAAN. Of course, I had never heard of this brand before, but they swore that it was much better than that other brand I was mentioning and assured me I would like it. So, on a whim, I bought the original Haan FS-20 (the yellow and white one). That was earlier this year. Let me tell you, I have not picked up a mop and bucket since like April of this year. It is such a pleasure to mop (if i can even call it mopping) the floors now. My tile floors are clean, and I mean, residue-free clean. I know it's killing the germs, etc, and it is so easy, literally a child, or husband :) could do this. I am serious. You just simply fill the tank of the boiler, and it boils the water to produce the steam. The floors are so clean and residue free, that if you are wearing nice clean socks, you're liable to slide on the tile. Well, my mother became jealous of this NEW steamer because when I got the original HAAN, I had given her my Shark to use. And although she loved the concept as I did, the pumping was a pain for her as well. NOW, she wants what I got. Let me tell you, I tell EVERYONE about my steam mop. Matter of fact, I've gotten about 4 ladies at work steaming their floors now. One lady says, oh, I get down on my hands and knees". I'm like, FORGET THAT! Get a HAAN. And she did. I got people steamin' all over the place. ahahha. OK~ SO~ Fastforward~



I saw that they came out with this new "SLim and Light" contraption. HMMMMM, that looks really, really nice. I wonder how it works? well, I read and read and read reviews. NOW, I want one of THESE!!! (I still love my original Haan FS-20, but this looks even BETTER!!) Let me just say, these people that give this new Slim and Light a bad rap because it didn't make their 30 year old warn out linoleum look brand new, or pick up all of their kids leftover food on the floor, or didn't pick up a clump of dried stuck-on something that had been there for two weeks, COME ON PEOPLE!!! There are limitations to everything. First of all, IT IS NOT A VACCUUM, nor does it ever claim to be. YES, you do have to vaccuum first. Coming from a person that has two labrador retrievers, you must vaccuum. And you should anyway. It steam cleans, it does not pick up a pile of cheerios or doggie hair tumbleweeds. VACCUUM FIRST!!! Also, yes, steaming times on one tank of water will vary, depending on how fast or slow you push the steamer. Some people say, oh, one tank only lasted me through doing the kitchen, well, if you go really slow, like i do to make sure i'm getting it real good, yes, you will have to refill by the time you get to the dining room. Some people move the steamer around faster, covering more area quickly, and get all of their floors done on the one tank. That's fine too. I am just a little unclear on how fast to actually move the steamer over a certain area in order for it to be cleaning effectively, so, I go slower and refill the tank more often. Whatever, doesn't matter really.



I decided to get my Mother and Grandmother one for Christmas this year. By this time, both Mom and Grandma had stopped using their Shark and had gone back to mopping at this point. I did order them the new Slim and Light for Christmas this year. I was so excited to give this to them, I could not wait. I COULD NOT WAIT to bust it out of the box and try it for myself, just could not wait. Also, I just had to try this new mop because another lady at work wants to go to steam cleaning and wants to buy the HAAN, but, wasn't sure if she wanted the original HAAN like I had, or if she would like the new S & L better. SO, i suggested to her...... let Mom and Grandma open theirs on Christmas, I'll use it and let you know which one I like better between the two, because after all, at this point, I had only read reviews and seen pictures of it on the web. She thought that was a good idea. So she was waiting with baited breath to find out which one she was going to buy!! WOW, is this NICE!!! Ok, so, now, how do I tell my husband I want the new S & L without him getting mad? hmmm, i'm going to have to work on that because I have GOT TO get me one of these. Mom loves it. She has steamed her floors every day since Christmas.

~Pads are re-washable. Take them off, throw them in the wash with your clothes, throw them in the dryer with your clothes.

However, it will help loosen a stain so that it can be cleaned out of the carpet, and it will take the smell out from a pet accident, etc. It freshens because it is killing mold, dust mites, bacteria, etc.

~Cord is a little shorter than the Shark, BUT, that is peanuts compared to the ease and positive benefits. No big deal.





NOTES:



~What's the difference between the FS-20 and the new S & L? Well, the FS-20 works on a boiler system, basically you fill the tank, it boils the water to produce continuous steam. The S & L uses an internal pump. You WILL hear a slight fluttering noise as the mop is pumping the steam out for you. This is normal. (I have actually found that the steam comes out more vigorously on the new S & L than mine because it is being pumped out).



~Wear shoes or at least socks when steaming the floors. You may not think that it is steaming all that much, but let me tell you, if you get it too close to your foot, and it burns the skin in between your toes, you'll know it!! (obviously a personal experience).



~Don't be a cheap @##. Buy distilled water to use in the machine. It will keep it from getting all crusty and crudded up with mineral deposits like your coffee pot does. I use only distilled water. The machine will last longer this way and the steam jets won't get clogged.



~Take the pad off the unit and throw it in the wash or at least the hamper when you are done steaming. If you let it sit on the unit after you've used it and store it that way, the pad can get musty smelling.



~My advise, buy 2 extra pads. You can never have enough.



~If you've been steaming for a while and the pad starts to get saturated, just put a new pad on. This will avoid the complaining of streaking on the floors as some people state.

I LOVE my Haan steam mop! It seems to be of very high quality. Surprisingly, the cord is heavier than my Dyson vacuum, or any other appliance of this type. The pads are nice & thick and are sure to hold up well.

I was most impressed when I cleaned one of my vinyl bathroom floors. It's had a deep stain on it since it was installed. I'd tried Clorox Clean-up and every other product I thought might work, to no avail. With just ONE short use, most of the stain is gone! I'm sure a second cleaning will remove it entirely.

You still have to sweep the floor as the Haan steams, and doesn't pick up debris.

It heats up in just 30 seconds (rather than the 3 minutes they say) and comes with pad to place under it while it's heating. One very little tank of water did my kitchen, both bathroom floors and my tiled entryway, with some left over. So buying distilled water won't be much of an expense. However, my rooms are very small.

I'm anxious to use it on my braided and oriental type rugs, which haven't been cleaned as I was afraid a shampooer would ruin them.

I'm 66 years old and found the Haan to be very light weight (at 4lbs) and easy to use.

Haven't found any Cons, so far.

I certainly wouldn't hesitate to purchase this again.

UPDATE:

I tried my Hann Steam Mop on my area rugs last evening. They came out cleaner than I imagined they would and I was very impressed. Especially on an area of my regular carpeting where the dirt was very ground in AND one of my puppies had an 'accident'. I tried everything to get the smell up.....several natural enzyme products, Febreeze, Spot Shot etc, and had even shampooed the carpeting several times. Now, The smell is GONE, after one use with the Haan.

Unlike using the Haan on hard flooring, when you're steaming rugs or carpeting, you will want to go very, very slowly and go over the area a few times.

This is one of the best purchases I have made in many a year!

Ever since having my first child I completely shifted our cleaning products to environmentally conscious ones like Seventh Generation and Ecover out of concern for my family's health. I had even started to mop with vinegar and water using a microfiber mop. As we all know mopping in general is not fun. I had always been curious about this product after having seen an infomercial. I had seen other similar items advertised but something about the Haan made me a bit more interested than the others. A friend of my had just purchased one and enjoyed not only using it but the end result as well so I borrowed hers and reveled as my floors squeaked as I walked on them after using it. So I went on Amazon read some reviews about the Haan and other steam mops (somewhere there is an excellent review of 3 or 4 of these products in one review and why they thought some were great and some weren't). I used it several times and then it started to act strangely. I called the Haan 800 number and found I wasn't letting the steamer warm up on the black mat without the microfiber pad so I tried that. While it was a good piece of info it did nothing to help its performance in fact it worsened. Called back the 800 number and in two seconds the woman said the it sounded like it was faulty and they were sending me a new head and two new pads to boot they included a pre-paid UPS label to send the old one back. Yes this mop doesn't mop, buff and shine the floors but it does do a great job with far less back breaking work. I can give my house that all over clean look with less fuss and muss.

I am very excited about this mop. It really does clean the floors well, and I recommend this mop to anyone who has back problems because it's very easy to push and is very light. It did my kitchen AND almost all of my dining roon floor before it needed refilling and even that was easy to do. I love how it leaves the floors just barely wet. The microfiber pads are very high quality and easy to clean. If you hate to clean house and you especially hate to clean floors, this is the product for you. I am glad I purchased this product. Works just like I expected and would buy it again. It was getting too hard for me to clean on my hands and knees and this solved that problem. Easy to use and cleans the floors and hardwood just fine. Cons: I bought the carpet / furniture attachment which I don't care for. I was expecting it to clean my couch and should have realized it maybe sanitizes, but doesn't clean. I also bought extra pads. The 2 provided are sufficient and could have saved the money.

I purchased this Haan steam mop from Amazon after catching the infomercial for it early one Saturday morning. While nothing ever completely lives up to the hype and claims in an infomercial, overall, I am very happy with the quality of the mop and the results it produces. A lot of people have complained about the amount of time between water refills but I have found that I easily get the 15-20 minutes advertised per fill. You can steam a lot of area in that amount of time. The cord is another topic of concern, but only because the design is a bit unwieldy to deal with when you are storing it. Other than that, I have no complaints. I routinely use the mop on my hardwood floors and my Corian counter tops. The floors feel much cleaner and any stubborn spills or stains are quickly and easily removed with no scraping or scrubbing. I've noticed less dirt on the microfiber pads after each cleaning and I feel that over time your floors will get progressively cleaner with use. The FS-20+ kit comes with extra pads, the short handle attachment, and the sanitizing tray, which is well worth the additional cost over purchasing the mop alone. The pads are easy to wash out and the mop is low maintenance.

I have been using my Haan for two months now. I have used the Haan on all my floors and used the Haan on all my furniture by coverting the machine into the hand-held. I have suffered from severe allergies and sinus infection all my life. Once I used the Haan, my allergies and sinus infections have been nonexistant. I really attribute this to the Haan because it was the only thing I have done different recently. I truely have discovered relief and owe it to the Haan. I definitely recomment the Haan. It's easy to use and if you are concerned about disinfecting your house, this is your product. It's a small investment that will pay you back after your first use. It has for me because I can breathe again!!!
