"DeLonghi EN680.M Nespresso Lattissima Single-Serve Espresso Maker, Metal" 2010-08-23
By Aris Routis (Athens, Attiki Greece)
This is an excellent coffee maker that does exactly what is supposed to do. I 've been using it for almost two months now and - honestly - I could not be happier.

It produces PERFECT cappuccino, very good latte drinks, and excellent espresso / lungo coffee drinks. That has to do with its pattended froth system, as well as the Nespresso system which gives you access to 16 no less flavors of coffee, 3 of them being decaff (!).

The machine is a toy to use, since it's a click/play system, but it's also programmable (meaning, you can adjust the amount of coffee / milk per program for your own experience), has removable drip unit, very - VERY - easy to clean.

And as for the people from US that reviewed it and complain bout the fact it does not make hot enough coffee drinks, honestly I don't know what to tell them, other than either they have a misconception of what is a hot cup of coffee, or they were unlucky. It produces quite hot coffee.

Anyways, I really find it hard to find something negative on this system. Perhaps the water compartment could be bigger, since you get to use it so much after you experience the quality of the coffee, that you get to refill it OFTEN.

"True Italian-style Coffee from Respected Appliance Maker" 2010-08-02
By Life Is Good (Asheville, NC)
The partnership between Nespresso and Delonghi is a great one. With this machine, you can create coffee drinks just like the ones you get in Europe--intense flavor, smaller portions--and Nespresso provides a wide variety of coffee strengths to fit any taste. The temperature of the beverages are the same temperature you'll get in Europe, which is just a little less hot than what we are accustomed to in the U.S.--that's okay by me! You may need to buy smaller coffee cups to fit the machine--easy to find at Walmart, Target, etc. Make sure you engage the milk container properly and keep it clean and you won't have any problems getting a good flow of hot milk into your cappuccino or latte--follow the manufacturer's directions by using cold skim milk, or up to 2%, and you'll get a good froth. If you are making a lungo and want cream or milk, warm the cream or milk in the microwave for 20 - 30 seconds--no different than the way it's done in Europe. This is a wonderful, reliable machine that provides an Italian coffee experience--I highly recommend it!

"Love it! But, the reviews are true" 2010-05-03
By karen (chicago)
I absolutely love being able to make great tasting late, cappuccino and sometimes coffee at home with such ease. Our trips to Caribou or Starbucks, which used to be nearly everyday, are now few and far between. This machine is easy, fast and hassle free. I do agree with the negative reviews about the less than hot temperature of the coffee drinks though. The only way I've found to get late and cappuccino to an acceptable temperature is to put the froth regulator on maximum because more steam goes through the milk and thus makes the overall drink temperature warmer. You are not going to get a hot drink out of this machine. And, yes, the cup warmer on the top is completely useless...it never gets hot enough to warm a cup. And none of our coffee cups or any coffee cups I can find at the store fit in the machine--the opening is extremely narrow so I have to stand there and hold the cup while coffee comes out. So why do I give 5-stars in this review? Well, it's because I already knew all of the negatives before I purchased and still decided to buy. I'd buy it again because it's easy, fast and makes great coffee drinks right in my own kitchen.

Hey Guys. Stop here and do not look any further. This is the ultimate machine to have a nice shot of espresso. Nespresso have by now 16 different capsules. Some strong like Rostretto and some mild like Coci. So compact and easy to use and easy to clean. The crema is fantastic. You can buy $12 Aerolatte if you like Cappuccino. Avoid any other frothing machines as the Aerolatte is better and cheaper. The Francis X8 costs twice the price unless you get it on promo from Illy. I like the C100 much better, besides the Nespresso capsules are cheaper than Illy.

 "Mmmm Espresso!" 2010-04-14
By M (CA, USA)
I used to spend about $25 a week on buying Mochas at Starbuck's or Pete's, but since I received this as a gift at the end of last year, I've been saving a lot of money. The capsules are about 55cents a piece. Translation: For what I was spending in about 2 weeks going every weekday I now get a daily supply of 3-shot mochas for the entire month.

The machine itself is very simple to use. There's no mess like with non-capsule machines, and you get a consistent cup of espresso. Toss in a little steamed milk and chocolate and I'm good to go. Operation is simple: fill the reservoir, hit one button to turn it on and wait 'til the red light stops blinking (about 15-30 seconds), open the top to insert the capsule and close it, and hit one button to fill your cup. When you go to insert the next capsule the act of opening the top engages a lever that drops the spent capsule in a hidden discard bin, that holds about 12 capsules, that's also simple to pop out and dump in the trash -- no messy hands, no coffee grounds spill, ever.

The Nespresso people realize the machines are expensive and they want your business, and they treat you right because of it. I got a call about a month and a half after I had the machine just to check if it was operating well. I've heard of a few people getting machines that go out after a month or two, but with the Nespresso Concepts D290 machine, I think I've found a real winner. Where I live (the suburbs), it takes about 2 days for replacements capsules to arrive, so you're never without coffee long if you do run out.

I haven't had a single problem with the machine.

The only caveat is that it's a bit loud when it's dispensing the espresso, but not too loud. all in all this is a great machine!

 "good machine terrible company" 2010-03-22
By Cil (Great NW)
This company knows how to lock up profits. Tried ordering, you must join "the club" and have coffee ordered in advance...but what happens if you run out? You better be prepared to wait 10 days....I tried ordering from them and 4 times they refused my credit card because even though I imputed it correctly online and then called 3 times giving them the correct information, each time they put East in my street address instead of SE.

Don't like that I can't run to the local mkt and pick up some quality beans if we have alot of company who all enjoy espresso with dessert and then run out. I would recommend against this machine because they are so exclusive. Other than that if they simply had some agreement with any one of the popular flavors with say, Safeway or some international chains, I'd go for it. Like my coffee too much to play the run around game...they just make it way too hard.

"98% of a perfect shot of espresso!" 2009-12-04
By Curt Pollack
I grew up in the Miami area where the Cuban style espresso is popular and available on practically every street corner. The liquid is thick and sweet and if made correctly has a dense crema...many folks own stove top espresso makers but that isn't real espresso and the crema is literally beaten out of it, not naturally occurring. Every espresso expert will tell you how important the crema is, it's your sign and reward for choosing the freshest roasted beans, grinding them to just the right fineness, tamping the coffee properly and hoping your machine has the requisite pressure and the water is the perfect temperature. Any error along the way will produce a light crema or even none at all. A good crema also serves to seal in the flavor.

I own 5 or 6 espresso makers including a professional model that's hooked up to the plumbing, an old brass model which requires a strong arm to operate the pump to produce the pressure, and an all-in-one unit that you add the beans and it grinds, tamps, brews, disposes the old coffee, and rinses itself out (if it would only do the ironing!).

My favorite and most used machine is the Nespresso D290...I've had three different models over the years. With these you need not procure fresh oily beans, use an expensive grinder, etc...you pop in a capsule and get a rich and creamy crema every time, naturally. With my pro-commercial machine, you are lucky to get a crema if every step is followed...and with warm-up time and cleanup...it's a production to make a couple of shots of espresso and the results are often hit and miss.

Most recently I replaced my old Nespresso D300 with a Romeo machine....I was disappointed in the crema so Nespresso sent another, also disappointing. They then replaced the Romeo with a D290 for me to try....the espresso was in another catagory! The crema was thicker and longer lasting than the Romeo and my original D300...the D290 doesn't have the warming plate, which I miss, or the digital read out, or the little trick where the capsule disappears before your eyes...but maybe this machine will last longer being simpler...and maybe, therein lies the secret to its better espresso.

The capsules aren't cheap but to buy a pound of beans and then wind up throwing half away because they get stale before I finish the pound...the capsules are not a bad deal at all. I love the D290....even the appearance has grown on me and my espresso shots are always a real hit with our friends and family.

BTW, I've found that the other lesser Nespresso models also yield a better shot than the expensive Romeo.

I should add that doing business with Nespresso has been nothing but a pleasure...their agents in the various stores around here, the ordering of capsules, and especially the customer care department...all employees aim to please.

"Perfect for those who love great coffee and convenience" 2009-12-01
By J. P. McKay (Seattle, WA USA)
First off, thank you to all previous posters as all the reviews helped in evaluating this product before purchasing, as well as in setting expectations.

I've had the D290 for 10 months now and I love it. I used to drink the occasional latte or americano a few times a week, but had moved on a year before from so-so Starbucks to speciality coffee houses. I consider myself an espresso snob and amateur connoisseur, so when we moved from a downtown condo with easy access to great coffee houses, to the suburbs, we decided to buy an espresso machine as poor consolation. I already had a Starbucks Barista, which I had received as a wedding gift, but it was so much work to make a latte with it, that it still sits in the closet gathering cobwebs.

The espresso is wonderful - so much so, that I don't even want to spend money to buy coffee any more as I can make better coffee at home. And I really don't drink lattes any more - I prefer drinking a long shot (lungo) as the coffee is so good on its own. And now I drink at least 2 shots a day, making me a bit of an addict!

If you're like me, and love great espresso with no mess, you will not be disappointed with Nespresso or the D290. My only complaint is that the size of the cup that can fit is too small, especially if you want to use a travel mug - in that case, go for the much sleeker CitiZ model, and buy the Aeroccino separately.

Nespresso C100-US-AERO-B Essenza Automatic Single-Serve Espresso Machine with Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother, Black

The delivery of our purchased Nespresso Machine by Amazon was on time and packed in excellent way. Outstanding service!

Nespresso machines are producing the best Espresso -for coffee drinker!- The Nespresso C100 is an excellent Espresso Machine. This is the 3rd Nespresso Machine we bought so far. 2 others (bigger than this one) are in our apart in Europe. This time we wanted a smaller one to fit in an apartment kitchen. The choice was between the C100 and the red C120 Citiz. Finally we agreed to buy the C100, because the prize was correct as it included the Aeroccino. Certainly the C120 Citiz is nice, but so far rather expensive. Furthermore the capsules (each year 2 new additional aromas) can be bought (and tasted!)in the Washington DC/Maryland area, even if the ordering of the Grands Crus is easy and efficient.

"Beware any Nespresso Club credits offered when purchasing through Amazon......" 2010-03-12
By J. Huntington
I phoned Nespresso before purchasing my Nespresso machine because the small print of the $50 Holiday Offer credit stated that the machine must cost a minimum of $299. The Nespresso representative assured me that so long as the suggested retail price of the product was $299 or greater, and it was shown on the receipt or attached advertisement, the $50 credit would be honored. Well, now that it has been declined for that very reason, the Nespresso Club representative informs me that "Amazon is not considered to be a reputable dealer" so, it is not possible to give the credit. Places like William Sonoma are the "reputable dealers". To the Amazon powers that be, I ask why you would want to continue doing business with a manufacturer that doesn't consider you to be "reputable"? The Holiday Offer was clearly deceptive and unethical, and their response to the problem was very disappointing.

 "Great little espresso machine" 2010-03-03
By twoimps (Pleasanton, CA)
I've been using a Keurig single serve coffee maker for several years for the convenience. The coffee is acceptable but no substitute for a good cup of espresso or latte. I was treated to a Nespresso demo at Williams Sonoma and was sold at the first taste. I love coffee, especially rich, full bodied coffees and espressos but my husband doesn't drink much so it's not worth the trouble to brew a pot or to invest in a really great espresso machine, etc. hence the Keurig. I have a very old espresso machine that still works but I don't have the time or patience early in the morning to use it. I'd seen this machine but for some reason I had assumed it was not in my price range. What a pleasant surprise to find that it didn't cost any more than our Keurig for the C100/Aeroccino package, which is a must if you use milk or cream in your coffee.

First, let me say that I don't like what passes for a latte at Starbucks, essentially hot milk with a dash of espresso, or a cappuccino which is half hot milk and half foamed milk with a dollop of espresso - or their coffee that's boiling and usually bitterly strong. I also don't drink the syrupy sweet coffee creations that rake in the bucks from the kids. I want to enjoy the flavor and richness of the coffee which is easier said than done now that everyone's thrown their towel in the ring.

I highly recommend the machine for ease of use and quality of the product. There's a large selection of really good coffee, something for everyone. I was skeptical about having to buy the coffee online until I placed my order at 3 p.m. and received it the NEXT day. Some may balk at the price of the coffee capsules but its not competing with Folgers, and as with anything you pay for convenience. And yes, I'm sure that you can find a machine that makes better espresso but not at this price point.

If you want a good cup of coffee (lungo) or espresso or a latte and don't want to spend a lot of money or time, this is a very good machine.

 "Nespresso Aeroccino Plus" 2009-12-25
By Stephen D. Seidel
I just received the Nespresso Aeroccino Plus for Christmas and I agree with all of the previous reviews. This milk frother is amazing! I have used a La Pavoni espresso maker for years and the steam wand has worked just fine. However, the Aeroccino Plus has several advantages over a steam wand. I add a shot of flavored syrup for cappuccinos to skim milk before I froth it. Now the foam is flavored which tastes like whipped cream and has the same consistency. The manufacturer recommends whole or semi-skimmed milk which may work even better. The foam does not collapse as with a steam wand. Also, since I am not using steam to froth the milk, I can make three more espresso drinks before I need to refill the La Pavoni. I am able to make espresso drinks more efficiently and faster since I do not need to spend time steam frothing. The milk is frothing automatically at the same time the espresso is being made. The Nespresso Aeroccino Plus will also froth soy milk if you are so inclined, better than the most experienced barista. I froth with the lid off making the clean up easier because now there is no need to clean the top or the lid seal. The milk is very hot and does not spill out the top. I bought the Nespresso on Amazon not just because of price but also because I could not find it in any mall store or coffee shop. It is not a kitchen gadget and retailers are making a big mistake by not stocking this well designed and elegant product. It is worth the money and I recommend it highly.

"A good alternative to traditional frothing" 2009-11-02
By D. Wang (San Diego, CA United States)
I received my Aeroccino Plus on Friday and have been testing it the last couple of days. I'm an experienced barista and take my espresso, latte and cappucino seriously. First, you can't beat a traditional manual espresso maker with a good steam wand. Using the steam wand on my machine, I get good consistent micro foam which brings out the natural sweetness of the milk. The trouble is that it takes a good 2 to 3 minutes each time which adds to prep time in the mornings before work. Also, when you're having a party and everyone wants a cappucino, I spend more time in front of my espresso machine than with guests. I wanted to try the Aeroccino plus as an alternative knowing it couldn't replace the steam wand on my Ms Silvia.

Aeroccino Plus comes with 2 milk "stirrers" spun by a magnet under the bottom of the insert. One stirrer is whisk-like which whips air into the milk for a thick foam used in cappucinos and the other stirrer is just a paddle which incorporates minimal air while the milk is being heated. The big plus is that time is reduced dramatically. In less than one minute, the milk is frothed and heated which cuts down on prep time. The frothing is not bad but as suspected not quite micro bubbles. Using the whisk like stirrer, the milk comes out rather thick...good for cappucinos. The one criticism I have is the capacity of the machine. The holder is marked with 2 levels (one for each stir application). The first time I used it and filled to the lower level and stirred with the whisk stirrer, I found you could not put the lid on because soon after the stirring started, the milk over flowed and spilled out. This means you can add barely enough milk for a single shot. The second time I tried it, I filled it to the higher level marked for the paddle stirrer. The milk heated fast but the micro bubbles didn't quite happen...the milk came out a little thinner than ideal. But overall, for the convenience and speed, I really can't complain. I've resigned to use the convenience and quickness of the Aeroccino plus on week days when I'm rushing for work but sacrifice a little on quality. Then on weekends when time is not as much as an issue, I'll go back to the manual steam wand on Ms Silvia for my perfect latte. I know the Plus has a higher capacity than previous version but I would have liked to have just a little more capacity.
