I got this to make my son's cake for his first birthday. I did a test run to see how it would come out before his party. It was great! I was alittle worried after reading some of the reviews but if you read the instructions right in the box, you will see that it says to use cooking spray and that the insert stays in place by overlapping the two rims. Amazing how instructions clear up those complications! As for the baking time, I think it depends on your oven, mine cooked faster than instructed. Not everything is going to be right down to a T. Overall, this worked great and made a delicious tasting cake!

Do Not Buy This Piece of Junk On-line. You will regret it. The ad is misleading on what you actually get and the sales people will try to sell you items. The customer service provides no help what so ever in trying to assist you with any order cancellation or returns.
If you can buy this thing from a store where returns are easier then do so. I would recommend getting the metal pan for large cupcakes.
Any good reviews about this product will most likely be written by the employees of this piece of junk.

I ordered this for my grandson's birthday - he's been seeing the commercials on TV. It arrived promptly, but not in the original packaging. It came in a plain white box with a vendor label stuck on the outside. Certainly not professional. And not appropriate for gift-giving. I attempted to return it, but was told there would be a 10% restocking fee AND I would receive the 90% refund ONLY if it was returned in the manufacturer's packaging. Hard to do when it wasn't received in the original packaging. I went to Walgreen's and bought another one to give my grandson - it was actually cheaper and it was in the colorful box that he will recognize. So, I guess I'll be making large cupcakes with the extra kit that I have to keep. All in all, I'm very disappointed in this merchant.

Like others have said, the cupcake mold was smaller than I expected. I used cooking spray and had no trouble getting the cake out of the mold. The problem I have with it is the insert (for filling) does not work well. It rose as the cake baked. You need some way to keep the mold in place while the cake bakes. Also, the directions that came with the mold said to cook the bottom longer than the top. I ended up cooking both pieces the same amount of time.

My son had to have this for this birthday. I was skeptical but it truely does work. It was smaller than I anticipated, but if you mix up 2 boxes of cake mix and add two-thirds of the mix it makes a big difference. This leaves you enough mix for 12 regular size cupcakes. I found I had to turn the oven down from 350 to 325 and baked for approximatly 45 to 50 minutes so it didn't brown too much. I have tried both Duncan Hines and Pillsbury mixes in it and Pillsbury works best. If you are planning on making these for bakes sales (which sell like hot cakes!) I would recommend buying 2 molds if you haved the chance. I made 4 in one night and it took me 5 hours in total between baking, cooling, and frosting. Best part about it is that it makes the best Mario Brothers Mushroom Cake around!
