"The J-2000 may have been more useful" 2010-02-11
By Truth to Power (San Francisco)
This steamer is very effective and simple to operate. I use it to get wrinkles out of delicate sweaters and dresses. It gets the most egregious wrinkles out of cotton, but you shouldn't expect a "pressed" look from even the best steamer. Protect your skin while using.

However, I strongly feel that it is just too much for home use. It's HUGE, probably 3-4 times as big as the J-2000 and it is not easy to fill and empty (which you should do to prevent rusting). I'm pretty petite and lifting the thing and then turning on its side or upside down to empty it is hard for me. I'm considering getting a siphon to help me with the job. The J-2000 has a little jug that you can simply remove. Not to mention that I've spied at least a couple of stores at the mall (french connection and J Jill) actually use the J-2000.... If it's good enough for them, it would probably have been good enough for my purposes.

It's too late for me to make a change now, but I would have gone with the J-2000 had I realized these things.

"Add a Little Jiffy To Your Life" 2010-01-26
By Gary La Court (Milwaukee, WI. USA)
The Jiffy Pro-Line J-4000 pretty much does everything it promises. It's a high-quality piece of equipment, which is obvious from its old-school retro-1940's bullet-proof design. Obviously no one has spent much time re-designing this product for 50 years or so, nor should they. It's almost a piece of Americana.

No, the Jiffy will not replace ironing; unless, perhaps you are a college student or a spandex-clad stay at home mom, or maybe a shut-it. You can't pull a wrinkled mess out of the clothes hamper and steam it to crisp perfection. What you can do, however, is take the days wear and light wrinkles out of suits, dress slacks and cotton shirts quickly and with ease.

The Jiffy will cut your dry cleaning bill in half or less. And, as dry cleaning is incredibly hard on your clothes, it will extend the useful life of your wardrobe.

I wear expensive bespoke suits and custom shirts. Being able to freshen them up and restore them to ready-to-wear status without a damaging trip to the dry cleaners is very pleasant.

The only unfortunate thing is that the device takes a good 20 minutes to warm up and create steam. Even if you leave it on "pre-heat" it takes six or seven minutes, not the two to three that are billed.

However, once it is going it produces billows of hot steam that will do the job.

I would recommend that you get the available "steaming board". Trying to steam things that are just flopping around on a hanger is awkward. Or, it works fine if you can just hang the clothes up against a wall.

Overall; this is a great high-quality product that does at least as well as the manufacturer claims,

 "Happy with this steamer" 2009-12-28
By bella (Seattle, WA)
I bought the Jiffy steamer to replace my old steamer that leaked and finally stopped working. So far I've been happy with the Jiffy. It has a preheat switch that can be turned on and as soon as the light is off, the steamer is ready to be used. I just wish the preheat process can be faster. Currently it takes up to 10 minutes.

 "love it" 2009-12-01

I love my Jiffy steamer J-4000. I haven't used my iron since I received this. This is great for most dry clean clothes too.

"Better than ironing, but takes planning" 2009-10-23
By Bowditch
The unit works as advertised on my button-down shirts and sure beats ironing. The unit can take a while to produce steam (depending on how much water you have in the tank), so you won't be using this 5 minutes before you have to leave the house. Additionally, shirts need to be left to dry a little right after steaming, otherwise you will wrinkle them immediately upon wearing. However, if I make the time to wash and hang a few loads of shirts, I can steam them all very quickly with this unit, which is nice.

Bottom line: Not good for individual shirts here and there, but awesome for batching a bunch at once. Also, proper technique can take some time, but then you can work quickly.
