I ordered this with a bit of trepidation considering some of the bad reviews of this hose, but after it arrived and I installed it, I'm satisfied. The biggest issue I had is that the hose is a little too tight, Sliding it onto the metal wand was a chore -- but after spraying the wand liberally with silicone spray lubricant, it went on just fine. It's still a bit more difficult to slide on and off than the factory hose, but better too tight than too loose.

The webbing seems similar to the factory hose -- and I was surprised by the weight of the hose assembly. It's quite heavy for it's size, very much like the original one.



So far I can't talk about it's longevity, but judging by the construction, I don't forsee any problems.

I read the other people's reviews, the complaints about the size of the tube, the loose plastic clip, etc... and I thought, "It can't be that bad. Plus it's almost 50 dollars less than the Dyson hose, so it has to be worth it."

Well, I was wrong. And the others were right. I had to fight just to get the wand to slide down the tube. Then I had to force the handle clip down to lock in place. Now it is on the vacuum, but I am hesitant to try and use the hand attachment because I don't want to have to fight to put it back together.

My advice is: don't look at spending 50 dollars more with Dyson as a waste - look at it as a guarantee that you will get a hose that fits properly. Don't buy this one.

This hose is a good price compared to the Dyson replacement, it fit pretty well for me and worked great at first, but about 6 months after I got it, the yellow tab broke which holds the power cord (it's thinner plastic than the original), and shortly after that the hose came detached and the end is stuck up in the wand handle. It's still usable but very annoying as I have to carefully hold the hose when I use it (and the power cord can't be nicely wrapped anymore).

I bought this vacuum after reading the reviews on Amazon and have been pleased with it to date. It is definitely infinitely more quiet than my old Hoover and seems to have good pickup. It's also very light and easy to maneuver. My only criticism is that the attachments can't be stored inside of the vacuum but instead click into a rack that attaches to the outside. It invariably falls off as I am vacuuming. My mom's ancient Miele has the "inside storage" feature and it's awesome. Maybe that comes with the more expensive models?

My wife and I were getting tired of buying a new low-cost vacuum cleaner every other year. Something always broke or wore out on them. And they always left dust in the air.



After a lot of research, we ordered the Miele Polaris.



We have had it now for a couple of weeks and we really love it. It is extremely quiet, easy to maneuver, and leaves no evidence of dust in the air (try vacuuming in sunlight to see what I mean). And it has suction beyond compare. It will pull the dust bunnies from under those very hard-to-reach places. The machine vents the exhaust air upwards; it doesn't scatter the dirt around like those cheaper, side-venting units do.



By the way, if you have a lot of laminate/hardwood and tile floors like we do, I highly recommend the parquet floor brush. It makes short work of large areas and it glides along so smoothly over the floor. The brush picks up everything; your floors are really clean when you are done vacuuming with this vacuum and brush!

I purchased the Polaris S4212 Canister to replace my mother's old vacuum. Her previous vacuum a steel Eureka was at least 30 years old when it gave up the ghost (the motor was making strange sounds). I read as many reviews on different sites including this one to determine which vacuum was the best and while I was initially put-off my the products high price tag I decided to take the plunge. I am very glad I did. This vacuum is more powerful and yet quieter than any vac I have used previously. On it lowest setting you can clean while someone is sleeping in a different room or even in the same room if they're a sound sleeper.

Miele vacuums are good vacuums as long as they work and supposedly to be designed to last approximately 20 years. They may last 20 years but if so they'll do it sitting in a closet and not in use. I've owned two different middle level Miele vacuums and the internal connection that permits the cord to transmit electricity gave out in about 3 years on one machine while the second machine lasted about five years before it to gave up the ghost. Both vacuums cost over $600 at the time of purchase and within a few years you are face with a cord replacement which is not an inexpensive exercise. Again Miele's are good vacuums while they work but expect cord problems due to an unresolved design flaw.
