The leaf vac does a great job, but I didn't know the machine would be so heavy. The clamp for the bagger is really hard to remove and replace. I wish I had gotten the zippered style.

This Blower/Vac perfomed very well. The new metal mulching blades are a big improvemnt from the old plastic ones. The zipperless bag is easy to empty. There are nylon strips inside the bag where the leaves enter that must be there for a reason I can't figure but they seem to be fraying as leaves pass through and are getting caught in the nylon threads and bunch up. They must be pulled out manually. The variable speed is great around mulched flower beds. You can set it to generate enough suction to pick up the leaves without getting much mulch. It's adjustable to add a little more, or less, suction depending on what you are picking up. Overall, this is a great improvement over the older models.

On several occasions I have purchased and attempted to use gas operated weed trimmers with the usual results. If you do not use them on a regular basis, the carburetor usually ends up clogged and then they go into the trash bin. . Mixing the oil and gas as never worked out for me. This is the main reason as to why I elected to purchase this electric power blower. I have a standard city lot 75x100 and this little gem is all I need to clean up my sidewalk, carport and driveways. I even use it to blow away cobwebs and debris that accumulate on the exterior walls and windows. It will blow leaves and cutting with ease at a distance of ten feet or more so you do not have to be right on top of what you want to blow away. I love the power of the weed eater electric blower! I would recommend this for it's power, light weight and easiness to use. The only drawback is that you have to unroll the electrical extension but now I also own an electric weed trimmer, edger and chain saw. So when I roll out the cord is for multi-use along with all the other electric powered tools. I thought of a reason not to give it a top rating but the life of me I cannot think of a single one. PS- I looked and looked and could not find anything similar for the price.

The blower works well. The only drawback is that the nozzle opening is round. I would prefer it to be fan shaped such as the higher priced models have. This would make the debris flow easier. Even with that slight design flaw I would buy it again if needed for a small yard.

Seems to be reasonably well built. I plugged it into a Kill-a-Watt meter, and it read 5.55 amps, 636 watts. Power seems OK for upholstery and car seats as long as deep suction is not required.



The design of the attachments renders them essentially useless. There is so much suction leakage that the attachment hose couldn't pick up loose sand from the car floor mat. For that kind of work, this definitely won't compete with the old Eureka Mighty Mite.



It comes with a spare belt. Cleanup of the dirt chamber and filter is not difficult.

I used to be a janitor for 4 years, when I was in college. I used a Dirt Devil. It was awesome -- the one with the bag on the back. So I really thought this was a good move. I read on here that it was loud, but, ah, they're just being picky! Not a chance. This thing hurt my ears AND my wife's ears.



On top of that, the belt broke within a couple hours of use.



As a mechanical engineer, I design products. Unfortunately, companies drive us to take cost out of perfectly good products to save them money. Eventually they have to make it so thin and cheap, the original quality is shot and they're hoping to sell on name recognition or previous product's history. This Dirt Devil feels solid. The problem is it is so incredibly loud. Also, there must be something wrong with the drive, because the belt broke within a couple hours of use.



We sent this piece of junk back.



I do not recommend this product. I would not EVER buy it again. EVER!



Now -- can anybody help me find a good hand vacuum for my carpeted stairs? Thanks.

I am very pleased with the small hand-held dirt devil sweeper I bought. It replaces a litle dirt devil I had used for 15 years. Always loved it but it finally died. Vacuum has plenty of power - good for steps and areas of plush rugs around desks and tables. Only complaint is that exhaust air goes horzontally out the sides, so I duct-taped some cardboard to deflect the air upwards so it wouldn't blow the dust around. Electric cord is nice and long and, overall it's a good buy for $40 cost.

This B&D blower/vacuum was a replacement for an earlier model that had given years of

service. I give it an outstanding, despite being louder and causing more hand vibration

over that of my previous model. The price was right and it is easy to shift back and

forth between the vacuum and blower modes. The little "thingee" attachment for the bottom

of the blower that moves quickly right and left is a very nice touch! Well Done B & D!

After reading over many reviews from various sources, I settled on the Toro 51599. Two main reasons: Metal impeller and electric operation. I must say also that after using a couple times, the ergonomics and weight of the tool is top notch - easy to change from blower to vacuum, comfortable to use, and light weight.

The metal impeller is important for our areas surrounding our house due to presence of larger gravel (drain rock primarily that is impossible to rake or sweep leaves and fir needles out of). I've found that in the vacuum mode leaves, small twigs and even most loose fir needles get sucked up but no rocks. We do have some areas of pea gravel which if not careful some of this has been sucked up but with the metal impeller there is no damage. Solid design.

I wanted electric operation because we wanted to keep noise levels down and did not want the pollution associated with gas operated tools. Plenty of power with this 12 amp model to blow large piles of dry leaves and vacuum up large piles as well - even did good with some of the damp leaves on bottom of piles. Love the variable speeds and large capacity leaf bag. Great mulching for compost and an excellent time saver compared to raking and bagging. I would recommend this tool very highly to anyone looking for a leaf blower/vacuum.

Had an older B&D with plastic impeller and would cringe whenever it sucked up something other than leaves. i just knew it would be a matter of time before the impeller would shatter. i bought this one mainly for it's metal impeller and the very good reviews it got. i wasn't disappointed. it sucks up and chews up about anything out there. glad i bought it.
