I badly needed to replace a bagless canister vacuum that was driving me NUTS! I hated emptying the bin and cleaning out the filters, which were always clogged. And the concentrated dust and debris that escape during emptying - I shudder to think how much of that dust I've breathed in. Being a bit light in the pocket, I was pleased to find this Eureka model oh so reasonably priced. My first impression when unpacking from the box was dismay at how thin and cheap the tubes and attachments felt. They seem durable however and really, lighter is better. This unit is very easy to pull around and the suction is good. I have hardwood floors but I was hoping I could use it to clean my area rugs and the indoor/outdoor carpeting in my rec room. It works GREAT on the indoor/outdoor carpeting and pretty good on the area rugs. The thick pile area living room rug...well, it's just sweeping/brushing the top really, so an upright will be needed there. I don't mind that the cord doesn't retract - I always attach an extension cord anyway. The long slender attachment fits in the top handle, so that is handy. It is a bit louder than I would like but overall I am very pleased with the purchase and feel I definitely got my money's worth.

It has great suction. For the money it is hard to do better. We have a woodstove, so I've had quite a few cleaners.



The only part that is inferior is the hose. I would rather pay more and get a better ne. It is narrow and can become plugged easily (if you vacuum up wood chips, anyway). Because of a curve where the instruments attach, it is very hard to get to plugs to dislodge them when they occur.

We purchased our first Mighty Mite vacuum over 20 years ago. It continued to perform throughout our recent household remodel. Since we have had it so long we thought we'd use it to do the daily clean up of saw dust, drywall dust, nails and everything that was left laying around until it stopped working and then just find a new vacuum. The remodel lasted 4 months and our mighty mite just kept going. We decided that if this vacuum could take all of that abuse after 20 years, it's a vacuum we'd want to keep using, so we decided to see if we could find a new mighty mite, and we did on Amazon. We ordered it and it is working just as good as the old one when it was new. Thank goodness Eureka realized they didn't have to change a good thing; they just needed to continue to offer it.

THIS IS THE WORST VACUUM I HAVE EVER USED!!! We have 1 dog, 3 kids and lots of hardwood floors. I just want to vacuum the floors. We use an upright for the area rugs. This vacuum gets clogged every 5 minutes and is very difficult to unclog. Thank goodness I saved my 20-year old Kenmore canister. Despite a missing wheel, broken hose attachment and broken floor attachment, it works way better than this vacuum. We'll keep the old Kenmore in the house and put the new Eureka in the garage. If it didn't feel so much like throwing money away, I'd put it in the trash.

When my previous Mighty Mite died after 20 years of loyal service I decided to see if they were still made. I was happy to discover there were new improved models and after reading mulitple online reviews, I went w/Pet Lover model. Since I have 2 cats I can't be without a vacuum, so I ordered from Amazon in case I needed to return and because of free shipping. My new purple Mite arrived within a couple days and I love it! Has great suction, is lightweight, compact and efficient. I'd highly recommend this versatile, space-saving machine.

While this vacuum is not without its flaws, for the money it is a "best buy". I finally got frustrated with the Royal I purchased a few years ago and replaced it with this Eureka for less than half what I spent on the Royal. I read the reviews from other owners and pretty much knew the pros and cons. I have multiple pets and hardwood floors with area rugs in each room. The suction is impressive and the bag size is much larger than you would anticipate for such a small unit. It has one of the longest cords I have ever seen on a vacuum, which is good and bad news. I agree with other reviewers that the hose is really cheap and will need replacing during the life of the unit. It would really have been nice for the power cord to be retractable. If Eureka had a model which solves these two complaints I would have paid an extra $50.00 for the unit. As it is, a am very pleased with the performance and supplied accessories. Surprisingly good on the rugs. Watch out for an unmentioned slide on the hose attachment which siphons off suction when you want less power. I taped it since it was so easy to open accidentally. Over all, a good performer considering the price. Also, I ordered direct from Amazon and it arrived in just 3 days! Another typical 5 star performance from the Amazon warehouse.

Bought this little number to replace my 29 year old Hoover Canister. I mainly wanted it for the carpeted stairs. Although I have a bamboo kitchen floor and linoleum foyer that I would also use it on, the main reason for the canister was for the stairs. I have an Oreck upright for the rest of the house and no pets for extra goodies deposited on the rugs.



This vac is quite powerful but they need to revisit the lousy hose which gets totally tangled when doing steps. Also, the air intake that opens when one rotates the hose is another pain. My old Hoover had such an intake and it snapped into place which is what Eureka should have done. Also, the rug attachments should snap into place not just be pushed on. And the dog paw attachment should be a convertible attachment that can become just a flat valve opening that would work easier for someone on a stairwell (who does not have animal hair to contend with). Also, the bend in the hard plastic that attaches to the hose should be straight for someone who gets down on steps and is not standing above them but rather are on the same level as the steps being vacuumed.



But this is a sweet little vac and although I don't expect to get 29 years out of it, I hope it sticks around for maybe 10!

I have two active German Shepherds and the hair and dirt that accumulates around here sometimes is crazy. It just became too much for my old expensive upright. One thing my old upright was never great at was the hardwood floors, which makes up three quarters of my house. This little sucker does not have that problem. It is powerful and fabulous on the hardwoods, getting the hair and dirt with ease and as it is lightweight and mobile I can get through the whole house in a reasonably short period of time. The reason I didn't go with five stars is that without a full sized rotating brush head it is not good on carpeting. The small pet attachment is good for upholstery and maybe small rugs, but not for full carpeting and larger rugs. It would take forever to do one carpeted room going a few inches at a time. Also, the dog hair can really get ground in to the rugs and I need that large brush to loosen it up. I am now researching whether Eureka sells a full sized brush head for this little guy that I can purchase. It would be really helpful. Meanwhile, this is a great little vacuum for most of my house and given how inexpensive it was, I am really happy with it.

This is a decent vacuum cleaner for the price. Eureka has definitely gone away from high quality, though- I have an earlier version of this vacuum, about 10 years old. I had to replace it but am still using the hose from the old machine with the new vac. The new hose is flimsy and kinks easily.

I'm very disappointed by the Eureka 12 Amps Boss Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum Cleaner and don't understand why it gets these high ratings on here. When I bought this I knew it was not going to be the best vacuum cleaner because of the price, but the suction is so poor it is just worthless. It leaves most dirt behind because of its poor suction. The straight wand and floor nozzle are made of a very flimsy and light plastic material that make using it a real challenge. The floor nozzle has tiny plastic wheels that don't roll well on carpet. I've always had canister vacuum cleaners with metal wands and more substantial nozzles before this and I just don't understand why this company decided to make it plastic. I advise anyone to spend a little more on a better vacuum cleaner than this piece of junk. It is anything but 'mighty'.
