I just received this gadget this morning so I thought I would quickly try it out right on the dog. When I first opened the package I was worried it would not fit the vacuum hose. I have a 30 year old Electrolux. It comes with 2 adapters, it takes a little trial and error to get the adapters right, but it fits perfect.



Of course, it is impossible to see how much hair it is removing off his body, but the head of the brush seem to loosen up quite a bit, and the handle ended up with a significant amount stuck to it, so if that is any indication, hair must be coming off!



Now for the great part. My dog loves this brush lol! After a few swipes he rolled over and was ready for me to do it for hours. If you dog loves a vacuum brush, I think that is half the battle.



Check this brush out, really it is not much more than a standard brush at Pets Mart and you have no flying hair!

Tested on a well-used cat tree (6 short-haired cats). This gets into crevices I had long given up on. The nubs grab all the hairs and the hairs stick to the rubber and then get sucked down the slots. It even works on my microfiber couch, where I had to use those wasteful sticky sheets until now just to grab those few stray hairs the vac was unable to remove on its own. This attachment picked up every last hair and it fits my Kenmore upright perfectly.

I bought this for my elderly mom to help out with basic cleanup since the vacuum is too heavy for her, and she can't bend her back very well to do regular sweeping. To her, this sweeper is a god-send. It picks up everything rather well from carpets and the bare kitchen floor. It is super light and maneuvers around very easily. Also, Amazon's price is half of what we saw at the store!

I just can't seem to keep the kitchen floor clean. I got this to help me out. I just it each day to pick up the crumbs and stuff that collects. It helps to cut down on the mess and I don't have to mop as often. I also run it over the living room carpet. It has more power on the hard flooring. But for just light cleaning during the week it does great. But it will in no way replace your vacuum cleaner.

After reading the other 5 star reviews I ordered this item. I wanted to replace my Shark cordless sweeper that was wearing out. The Dirt Devil was more flimsy than the Shark. It didn't pick up as well. The entire top of the sweeper was covered with dust after I used it; this never happened with the Shark. It was hard to turn on and off with my foot compared to the Shark. The final problem occurred after I had used it for less than a week and the left wheel broke off. I returned it for a refund.



Although my experience with this product was disappointing, as always, my experience with Amazon was completely satisfactory. They have a return policy with no questions asked and send you a return mailing label. I find myself buying more and more from Amazon because of their superior customer service.

I got this from my daughter as a christmas gift , i have had those sweepers you see on tv and there is a big differance . This one is quiet and works very well. I'll start by saying I don't actually own one. I bought one for my mother for Christmas replacing her 3 year old previous 2800 Bissell. I have used it several times though and after owning two different yet similar Shark type vacs I can honestly say this Bissell is hands down the better machine. Comparatively speaking, Sharks are junk. I will never buy another one. The Bissell picks up everything, takes a lot of abuse and the battery lasts a lot longer. You can almost get away with using this machine as your main household vacuum.

I bought this item not expecting much.

My expensive electrolux vacuum was in repairs after just 2 years of usage and I needed something small , wireless, quick and cheap to clean the mess after my 2 year old. I fully charged it the first time and i have used it at least 5 times in my living room and kitchen without having to recharge it again. I am very pleased. It picks up almost anything - most importantly cheerios - even in corners if you insist and as long as you use slow motions instead of the fast ones you would do with the vacuum it does a wonderful job. I found it is easy enough to dispose of the dirt inside too: just take out the middle collecting piece and turn it in a good angle over the garbage bin. Sometimes it is necessary to put the finger in a bit to take the leftover scum and manually clean the hair of the brush but after having a child i can say i have touched more ickier stuff :P I still use my vacuum once a week for a nice clean and in rest i use my little electric broom for small jobs during the week. On top of that it is very quiet so i can use it when my little one is taking a nap. I am very happy with it!

We've owned this little vac for about 3 months. And I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. It promises much, but only delivers on some of it. We purchased it to vacuum our wood and vinyl floors in the LR and DR. We have two toddlers and are constantly cleaning up food swept off of high chair trays. Tired of pulling out a broom 3 or 4 times a day, we looked for the convenience of a little vacuum that would take up little space and didn't need to be plugged in except for recharging. And on these promises, the Bissel delivers. It's easy to store, easy to use. But it's not without its problems:



- little side brushes don't spin any more (they broke after just a month or two of light use), which means it does a poor job at the edges of a room

- can only pick up stuff as you push it away from you -- on the trip back toward you, it just drags junk around

- battery already seems to be losing its umph and needs to be charged more often

- you have to go pretty slow for it to pick up most items

- works great for cheerios, but not as well for small bits of food or, say, tiny beads



It's not all bad. It does do well on cheerios and similarly sized bits of food. And for that, we're thrilled. And honestly, I don't know if there's anything out there that works better. So set your expectations low and you'll be pleased. Else wait until they invent something better.

JUST RECEIVED THE SWEEPER. DUBIOUS AT FIRST AFTER YEARS OF TRYING TO FIND THE RIGHT VACUUM PRODUCT. HAVE UPRIGHT, STICK VAC, HANDHELD/DUSTBUSTER, EVEN WHEN DRY FLIP/FLOP TYPE.



"GORILLA WALKING" ... What I mean is ... I have a great dog that loves to obliterate his toys into small to tiny pieces of rubber/plastic/plush stuffing ... you name it. The pieces are too big for handheld vac or stick vac., and sometimes too large or of such a hard plastic for full upright - and causes clogging and horrendous noises when it happens.



SO EVERYDAY I HAVE TO WALK MY HOLE HOUSE PICKING UP THE STUFFING AND LARGE PIECES MY DOG HAS LEFT EVERYWHERE. The debris is so scattered I kind of half bend and crouch moving a few inches at a time - I cant walk normally, stop bend over and pick up and move to the next item, stop bend over and pick it up, stand up (you get the idea) so I call it "Gorilla Walking" to pick up the mess .... BEFORE VACUUMING!



THIS IS IT. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO "REINVENT THE WHEEL" with ever new models of vacuum cleaners.



This is old Fashioned "Tech" that work fine in its day ... AND STILL DOES THE JOB IT DID BACK WHEN. IN FACT BETTER THAN ANY OF THE NEW ELECTRIC VARIATIONS OF SWEEPING UP DIRT AND DEBRIS I'VE TRIED.



IT DOES NOT REPLACE A VACUUM. BUT DOES SAVE A LOT OF TIME EFFORT AND WILL MAKE FULL VACUUMING A MUCH LESS FREQUENT NECESSITY.



IS VERY LIGHT WEIGHT/FLIMSY AND FEELS CHEAP AND WORTLESS

IT HAS NO SUCTION OR POWER ASSIST

RELIES ON MANUAL EFFORT TO CLEAN

NO TANGLED CORDS, BAGS TO BUY OR MESSY REMOVABLE WAST CUPS, NO LOSS OF SUCTION OR DEAD BATTERIES TO WORRY ABOUT.



IMMEDIATELY I NOTICED - THE LESS EFFORT AND PUSHING, THE BETTER IT WORKS. I QUICKLY TESTED IT ON THE DOG TOY DEBRIS PROBLEM WITH A FEW SWEEPS AND RAN TO THE TRASH CAN TO SEE HOW IT WORKED, AND THE BEST WAY TO HOLD IT WHEN EMPTYING .... BEFORE I GOT A FULL LOAD OF DUST AND DEBRIS AND THEN GET IT ALL OVER FIGURING IT OUT.



WELL - IT EMPTIES WITH OUT ANY EFFORT OR MESS .... BUT WHAT SHOCKED ME WAS HOW MUCH EXTRA DIRT, DEBRIS, DUST, HAIR PAPER STUFF WAS SWEPT UP DURING MY 10 SECOND "TEST RUN". I LITERALLY DID LIKE 10 QUICK PASSES OVER THE DEBRIS I SAW EASILY - AN SO MUCH DIRT AND DUST WAS PICKED UP I GOT SO EXCITED I RAN AROUND THE WHOLE HOUSE CHECK HOW IT DID ON EACH SURFACE TYPE - AND CHECK THE TRASH CAN EACH TIME ... EACH TIME FINDING WAY MORE DIRT AND DUST THAN EXPECTED EASILY TILTING OUT OF THE SWEEPER WITHOUT ANY FLYING MESS TO AGGRAVATE MY ALLERGIES.



THE SWEEPER WAS ACTUALLY MUCH SMALLER THAN EXPECTED ... UNTIL I TRIED IN ON MY CARPETED STAIRS ... AND REALIZED IT MUST HAVE BEEN DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY THAT SIZE TO PERFECTLY FIT THE WIDTH OF THE AVERAGE STEP.



IT'S LIGHT WEIGHT AND SIZE MAKES STAIR "SWEEPING" A BREEZE.



CONS:



-> IT NEEDS TO BE EMPTIED FREQUENTLY - BUT IT TAKES JUST A SECOND

-> IT DOES NOT GET CLOSE TO EDGES AT ALL - NO MATTER HOW YOU MANEUVER IT - IT WILL NEVER DO EDGES OR CORNERS.

-> IT MAY NOT LAST TOO LONG - BUT AT THE PRICE, I WOULD PREFER TO REPLACE SUCH AN INEXPENSIVE SWEEPER WHEN IT BREAKS, THAN EVER INVEST IN ANOTHER HIGH END EXPENSIVE ELECTRIC/CORDLESS OR OTHER GADGET LOADED MACHINE THAT I WILL RARELY USE (compared to this sweeper) WITH SETUP, PLUGS, CHARGING BEING NECESSARY BEFORE USE.



-> THE HANDLE ISSUE!

=> READ THE OTHER COMMENTS ABOUT HOW TO PROPERLY ASSEMBLE THE HANDLE AND YOU WILL BE FINE

=> DON'T BE AN IDIOT (like I did when tapping it hard to snap together) by placing the plastic handle on the floor and smashing down. MAKE SURE YOU DO THE HARD TAP WITH THE END THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE PLASTIC CAP - or you will break the hand holding cap on the end.



=> ATTACHING/SCREWING THE HANDLE ON. YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE TO SCREW IT ALL THE WAY TO THE BASE (ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS). IT APPEARS TO STOP WAY BEFORE YOU REACH THE CROSS BAR.

=> KEEP SCREWING UNTIL YOU CAN'T SCREW ANY MORE .... THEN

=> USE A PAIR OF PLIERS OR SOME KIND OF GOOD GRIPPING DEVICE TO SCREW IT >>ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE CROSS BAR << Thought I had gone all the way, but after all the reviews and the fact it had not reached the cross bar as the instructions said, I realized that the smooth metal handle and the very light weight base made it impossible to get the grip and traction to screw it all the way in unless you can get a good enough grip on both the handle and the base. Once you secure the base in one hand and the handle in the other, it screws with not much effort all the way to the base and makes a good strong connection.



The almost ridiculously light and flimsy plastic base ... is not so ridiculous ... you can lift and hold it in one hand like a small plastic box, and the rod in the other .... then you have a complete sweeper that weighs almost nothing .... which is fabulous for pushing it around and carrying up and down stairs.



FINAL TIP - IT IS LIGHT AND FLIMSY BUT IT IS PICKING UP DUST THAT WEIGHS EVEN LESS (NON MEASURABLE). SO IT ONLY NEEDS TO BE LIGHTLY PUSHED AND PULLED AND IT DOES THE JOB. PUSHING DOWN HARD, OR PUSHING WITH BODY WEIGHT TO GET A 'GOOD CLEAN' OR TRYING TO USE IT WAY TOO FAST .... AND YOU WILL NOT GET UP AS MUCH AND WILL MOST LIKELY BREAK IT.



I now realize you don't need to fight "dust" with a suction strong enough to suck up anything it passes over. Thinking more powerful suction means better vacuuming SEEMS TO ME FROM REVIEWS AND EXPERIENCE is DEAD WRONG. All suction need an output vent. The more suction, the more air needs to be expelled at increasing intensity ... Leading to the hundreds of reviews I've read about various machines blowing the dust all over before being able to run the machine over a surface.



FINAL THOUGHT - Give it a try. Buy it through Amazon so you can return it without cost or hassle if you are unhappy with the product ... but I think everyone will be so surprised and pleased that not many people would return such an inexpensive yet very functional device as the Bissell sweeper.



MORE EXPENSIVE IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER!

This is a great little sweeper for me. I don't expect it to be a miracle cleaner and work for everything, that's why I'm very happy with it. It does what it was designed to do - sweep up bits of stuff from low pile carpet, esp. commercial carpet. I have a habit of not wanting to clean anything until it's late at night, but I can't exactly roll out the vacuum at 2am. So this guy is great for sweeping up the area rugs in my apartment whenever I feel like doing it. I have two short-hair cats and I'm always really surprised at the amount of fur I pick up with this thing! It's really satisfying to see all of that in the compartments before it gets dumped into the trash. I also am responsible for vacuuming the commercial carpet in my building's hallways and this sweeper was really convenient to use in between vacuuming, especially in the fall when people kept tracking leaves inside.

Perfect for crumbs and dog hair (labrador). This sweeper does work on hardwood floors, but not as well as carpet; the pickup bristles sometimes chase the crumbs by flicking them on hardwood. It is true what people say about the handle coming apart, but it only seems to be a problem if you pick the sweeper up and carry it by the handle. The handle is a friction fit socket and cup (three joints), it would be better if it had a lock on the individual sections. The crumb tray is easy to empty, and the sweeper is quiet. All in all, a great buy for the money, you won't be disappointed.

The manufacturer's description is misleading. It sounds like it's an all-around basic sweeper, but it does not work on hard-wood floors. Sure, for carpets, it's quite helpful, but that's not why I bought it. We have the pricey vacuum for our one and only oriental carpet (I have allergies). I wanted something to pick up all the debris my kids bring in on our hardwood floors, which cover the remainder of our house. The sweeper picks up nothing. Literally, you can run it over the same spot 5 times, but you'll be very lucky if it picks up anything. It's really meant for carpets -- the rollers inside use the friction with the carpet fibers to pick up debris. Without that friction, nothing happens.



Yes, the handle doesn't work on mine either, but that didn't concern me: a piece of packing tape easily solves that. My problem is that the product is not as versatile as the manufacturer leads you to believe.
