I have 2 vacuum cleaners: this cordless hoover and a dyson. I use the dyson for the carpet since I have dogs and most of the area of the house has carpet. But I love this hoover, I don't need to worry about the cord, for the stairs (carpet) is great and quick. And for the small rugs and hard floor is the best.
But if you have kids, several dogs and a huge area to vacuum I just recommend have a traditional vacuum and use this one for small jobs, areas and stairs.

Smaller version of the Hoover wind tunnel vacuum. Has two speeds, one for hard surface, one for carpet. Cordless and light, great for carpeted stairs. Great suction, bagless convenience. Well worth the price.

The Hoover stick Vacuum is fantastic. I live on a farm and it picks up dirt clods with no problem. I use it all the time for quick clean ups. It's great for spilled houseplants, loose strings or lint from dryer and pet hair numerous clean ups. I just got it for Xmas and I just love it.

This vacuum is only OK, definitely NOT worth the money for hardwood floors. We have three full finished levels in our house, 100% hardwoods, with cats and kids, and I like keeping my house really clean. So I do a LOT of vacuuming. I use this vacuum some but it's not my favorite. It has no hose, and the head is too big to fit into tiny spaces or under most furniture. So it's useless for serious cleaning. And for quick cleaning, it's just OK.... I often grab my cheapo Swifter vac instead (which cost around $30) for quick cleanups. And for deep cleaning, I grab my $110 canister. The Hoover Platinum costs almost double and was absolutely not worth it. It looks cool, but that's not what matters when you're cleaning!

This little vacuum is sleek, beautiful, powerful, and super convenient in every way. (No, I do not work for Hoover, nor even know anyone who does.) I keep it (and its hand-held companion Hoover BH50015 Platinum Collection LINX Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner) sitting out in the kitchen because they looks like high-tech decor, as do their futuristic battery chargers. As their batteries are interchangeable (and long-lasting), when one battery finally runs down, the next one is ready to go. And they re-charge from zero in just a few hours.
It may have a narrow spread, but the advantage there is that you can easily get into tight places, and you can move freely, vacuuming everywhere, without dragging an annoying cord around or looking for a plug. I never want a vacuum as wide as a bull-dozer again! What you gain in breadth in the middle of a room is NOT WORTH IT, unless you live in a mansion. And even then, you'll still need a smaller device to get into the little areas.
I have three cats and it handles their endless shedding and messy feeding area just fine (picks up sizeable kibble just fine). Plus it's so light that I can easily lift it up and vacuum the sofa and chair with it. And dumping the debris is as easy as pressing a button over the trash can. No knocking out paper filters or changing bags.
When the simple foam filter does need cleaning, which isn't that often, it's easily rinsed, squeezed and dried within a few hours.
At last, a product that I really can't find anything wrong with! Vacuuming with this is fun! And I HATE vacuuming!
