My most recent Hoover vacuum finally gave out, which I felt was a good vacuum until I purchased this model. Prior to my purchase, I researched for a good vacuum that would pick up pet hair. (I have a short hair dog and a medium hair cat..both white, so I am constantly vacuuming up pet hair). My first run through of my house with this vacuum was amazing and slightly embarrassing. This vacuum collected so much dust and pet hair (that my previous vacuum missed) that the canister was practically full. Not to mention my carpet appeared to be much more "fluffy". I was also very excited to see how well it removed ALL the pet hair off of the area rugs. My previous vacuum would never remove all the pet hair from these rugs, so I just assumed the hair was permanently embedded into the rugs until I bought this vacuum. The clean/dirty light indicator is very good for high traffic areas. As with any bagless vacuums, it can be slightly messy emptying the canister. And lastly, the occasional cleaning of the filter is not ideal in my opinion either, but the performance far exceeds these two downsides. I definitely would recommend this vacuum.

Hoover picking up much, much, much more dust, then Shark. Under furniture I can reach now deeper, not like with Shark. Hoover has furniture guard, so I'm not worrying to scratch my furniture. Shark is lighter, but then I'm using Hoover, I can feel that I'm using very well build vacuum, real vacuum. Hoover's cord, I believe, is longer than on Shark and much lighter. Hoover has light in front, Shark is not. Shark blowing air from filter in front, which can blow dust, then vacuuming bare floor. Hoover blowing air on both sides. Big and very important difference. At Costco Hoover cost $198 and Shark - $160. $38 dollars difference, but worth every penny for performance and this is what everybody looking in vacuum. I'm very confident in Hoover, this is my champion.

This vacuum "sucks" that's right it sucks all the dirt &what ever else is on my carpets/floors. You can feel the power of it working as it pulls it self across the carpet. Multi-settings for the type of floor works great. Only thing they should have done, is make the hose longer, or more attachments. Recommended!

This was a real good vac for 8 mo. Then its motor burned up. The service center said Hoover company owed him so much back pay for services he is forced to reject future work on all of hoovers. He told me I would need to find another service center or ship it to hoover for repairs.



Told me Hoover is owned by a china company now and like other china manufacturers they dont care about servicing anything at all. Basicly told me my vac was a throw away item.

I called Hoover and was told the next nearest service center to me was 180 mi. away. I would have to pay to ship it. I'll never buy a hoover again. Old Hoover company quality and service is history. They are all junk throw aways now. I wish I could give it -5 stars.

Compared to my Eureka- this is a huge step up! Everything is better- the cord is longer, the suction is stronger, the unit is lighter, movement is smoother, the canister is easier to empty, the filters are easier to clean and overall I'm happier with this vacuum. It's certainly not the "OH MY GOSH I LOVE IT!!" vacuum I read about in other reviews, but with three dogs, it gets the job done and I'm happy with it. I've had it for about a month and only time will tell how well it holds up in the long haul.

This is a great vacuum. Has great suction and no filter to constantly clean. I wish the hose was longer, but it's awesome the way it's set up with the handle up high. Everything is very

ergonomic. I love the way you can turn off the brush bar and adjust for carpet height right from the handle. The dust filter seems like it needs to be cleaned more than every two months.



Having said all this, if I had to do it over again I would have purchased a Dyson Ball vacuum. Mainly out of principle. Dyson developed the technology first and Hoover actually tried to buy the patent to it could take it off the market. Dyson has a longer reaching hose and the ball technology makes the vacuum extremely maneuverable, and this vacuum struggles to maneuver at times.



Still a great vacuum especially for the price. I paid just over $190 on Amazon and I think it was originally in the $400 range.

This thing is just plain amazing. The canister is SUPER easy to clean, cord is extra long, blue LEDs let you know what carpet setting you are on, and lights up the power button. LED on the bottom tells you if the floor is clean or dirty, super easy to use (its a heavy unit, but as soon as it powers on its almost as if it has an push assist motor), awesome colors, and very powerful. Everything you could ask for in a vac. A+!

Despite B&D's claims, this bag most certainly does NOT fit all their vacuum/blowers. It did not fit on mine, and I had to hold it on with my left hand to keep it from blowing off and use the vaccum with my right--very uncomfortable. Got wise and bought the Toro $69 blower/vacuum on Amazon and got the free shipping and it still arrived in four days. I like it MUCH better than the Black & Decker version--it is MUCH quieter.

The product information on the website states that the bag "fits all Black& Decker blower/vacuums," and "Replaces all Black & Decker blower vac bags." So I ordered two bags for my B&D LH4500 Leaf Hog Blower/Vacuum. When the bags arrived, I learned from the information on the package that the collection bags only work for the smaller models, such as the BV2500. I had no way of knowing this from the description and reviews on the website, although I see that now it is billed as the "Replacement shoulder bag for BV-2500." Fortunately, the return was easy.

By the way, the leaf collection system BV-006 is a piece of junk. It did not take long for the plastic coupler to detach from the hose.

I have tried, on a number of different occasions, a few of the Hoover carpet detergents: The lesser expensive Hoover Deep Cleansing detergent (a very nice all-purpose detergent), the Hoover Premium Pet Formula (great scent), and the (more expensive) Hoover Platinum Pet Plus. They are ALL great carpet cleaning detergents... but I would have to confess that I didn't find a huge cleaning difference between the Deep Cleansing and the Premium Pet Formula (I would favor the Pet Formula over the Deep Cleansing -- the Pet Formula has a lovely powdery scent and little bit more cleaning power that's worth an extra couple of bucks, I think).



All of that said, the Platinum Pet Plus detergent... whoa, that was a BIG cut above the rest. Twice the price, but twice the performance. It's a killer price-wise for me -- I can use an entire bottle of the stuff on just one good-sized room (we have a lot of dogs free-roaming our house plus we live in a rural mountain/country environment). But, if you compare it with the expense of professional carpet cleaning, or the cost to replace a room of carpet, a few extra bucks on the Platinum Pet Plus detergent is a great alternative when you have a seriously soiled carpet. In the end, I think I'll spring for the Platinum Pet Plus when the carpets are really THAT bad (more often than I'd like to confess to) or for a semi-annual cleaning, and then use the Premium Pet Formula for in-between light maintenance. If money were no object, I'd buy the Platinum Pet Plus every time. It's that good.

I had a B&D dustbuster which was purchased two years ago. The batteries would only now hold a charge for about 5 minutes before giving out. Since they were not replaceable I sought out a hand vac with replaceable batteries. The Hoover had fairly good ratings, so I bought one. My first experience with it is an absolute zero. It clogged within seconds of its first use. I had drilled a hole in plaster and attempted to clear the debris. After a few seconds it did nothing. It took 4 dumping and cleanings to clear the debris from a single one inch hole of plaster dust.



I will return the vac. In similar situations the Dustbuster was far superior. It is unfortunate though that B&D chose to use non replaceable batteries. As far as suction goes overall, the Hoover is very limp on comparison.



It may have a better battery, but don't waste your money on this premium priced product.

What a difference it is to have this vacuum vs a little, weak Black & Decker model we suffered with for years. This one has great power and battery longevity, even when it's been stored in the cupboard for awhile. My only regret is not getting the floor model with the longer handle. My husband likes this model, though, so he'll help as needed (another plus!) Really like the ergonomic style that's also sleek and clean-looking. And we like that only the battery needs to be on the counter, not the whole vacuum. Very satisfied with this purchase!

this vac works great and gives good results,i use to have to run to the nearest gas station to vacuim the car not anymore and then around the corner it was a $1.50 and to use the 50cents machines i would have to drive farrrrrrrrrr and using the vacuim without a cord it is a plus for me,im a paraplegic the cord would just get in my way,now the price was a bit high but is well worth it,but the unit is rechargable.
