 "Not Impressed" 2010-06-14
By momoftwo (midwest)
I just bought this vacuum from Amazon. Upon receiving it I opened it and vacuumed one of the rooms in my house and found that it snagged my carpet in two seperate places!! I was very upset with the vacuum and I hope amazon will refund me the money for this poor product.

To those considering this vacuum keep in mind that it will snag your carpet and this will eventually cost more as you replace your carpet and vacuum.

"Not too good for tall people!" 2010-05-18
By R. Hoban (Raleigh, NC)
This vacuum sucks great! It has a tendency to bump into things behind me as I drag it around. The carpet attachment works well. But, my only complaint is the fact that a person that is taller (I'm 5'9") will find this uncomfortable to bend over in the awkward position while using the vacuum. But, it sucks well!

By S. Bilbo
I bought this model vacuum about a year ago. At first I liked it as it was easy to handle and the attachments were easy to change out, but it doesn't have much suction. After 1 year, some of the attachments no longer work, so I would not recommend this purchase. I have had my old electrolux fixed, and even at 15 years old, it is a better vacuum.

Works great. My wife is extremely happy with this vacuum cleaner. Much better than our old Dirt Devil.

"if you're used to an upright, don't buy a canister!" 2010-03-19
By codyaya (USA)
I've only ever used upright vacuums so I'm not sure if I can really be fair about this particular vacuum cleaner.

The reasons I purchased this vacuum, over another upright vacuum, are:

1. I was looking for a hepa filtration system that wouldn't cost $800.

2. My old upright vacuum nearly broke my back when I tried pushing it over carpet. I thought using this vacuum would be lighter and easier to manouver.

3. I needed a vacuum that I could switch the brush roller on and off.

PROS:

on/off, carpet/bare floor (brush roller) controls are easily accessed because the switch is next to the handle

suction is better than my old vacuum, so much so that it will eat curtains, carpet fringe or anything else that's not nailed down

hepa filtration is great (after never having it in a house full of pets)

the head reaches all the way under furniture and beds without having to move them

the bag is super easy to replace

the power cords is automatically retracted with the push of a button

CONS:

This vacuum cleaner is EXTREMELY difficult to control! I feel like I'm in an episode of 'I Love Lucy' when I'm trying to vacuum. The head swivels around wildly, while the hose gets tangled up around my knees along with the power cord. I needed something that would be easy on my back, but this thing has to be carried while I'm using it, so it's much harder on my back than my old upright. I feel like I need at least 2 extra arms to manage this vacuum cleaner. I really regret buying it.

Buy Cheap Black & Decker BV2500 12-AMP Electric Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher

Buy Low Price From Here Now

With the Black & Decker Leaf Hog, you can clean up both the deck and the lawn with one reasonably priced and easy-to-maintain machine. This blower/vac is electric, so it requires an extension cord and an electric outlet to run, but there's nothing else to set up or maintain. The 12 amp motor has considerable power for its size, more than enough to clear driveways or decks or blow off sections of lawn. At just over 7 pounds, the Leaf Hog is light enough to use for long periods of time, and it's also quiet enough to use at any time of day. Switching from blowing to vacuuming is a snap--literally. The correct button took us a moment to find, but once you've located it, you simply depress it and remove the blowing unit, then attach the vacuum extension in its place. The extension has a bag for mulch, which attaches with a small clasp. When vacuuming, the unit mulches by sucking leaves through the fan assembly. Though this model, with its patented Vortex anticlog vacuum system, does a better job of remaining unclogged than most, you still need to be careful to avoid rocks and sticks. It also has a variable-speed control that lets you choose between 150 and 200 mph blower speed.

"tough tool that keeps on working" 2010-04-10
By Mars Trader
This product is not perfect, but it is tough! I have had one for more than ten years and I have worked it hard around a Connecticut forest-edge home which also means that I vacuum up a lot of rocks, wood chips and cones. After years of hard work the motor bearings have just started to go but I will say that I got my money's worth many times over. I bought other blowers for a clubhouse and had problems with breakage. Only two complaints. 1) If you accidentally release the head while the impeller is still turning, you are exposed to it - there is no emergency brake. But I have not seen other products with a brake either. 2) the exit port is easy to clog when picking up wet leaves and in New England, they often are wet! But I can live with both of those issues. I highly recommend this product. I am buying my second unit now. There was no question in my mind about sticking with this brand and this model.

The second time I used it the product quit. I called B&D and they replaced it with a new product. I noticed on the one you sent that it was marked 2007, the one B&D sent was marked 2010. I will not buy anything from you that is mechanical.

"Great blower/vac within its design parameters" 2010-03-12
By Robert A. Maszarose (Dallas, Tx)
I have owned this unit for over 3 years. It is a superior blower and the vac works really well and mulches the leaves as advertised. Caveat: If you have oak trees with acorns, the vac is powerful enough to suck them up, and create mayhem with the housing (shattering mine and actually creating a semi-dangerous situation - make certain you wear eye protection when you use this item). That said, I love this unit and am going to purchase a replacement vac housing and impeller blade (mine is worn to a nub from said acorns). If you deal exclusively with grass/leaves and don't have much hard debris (mulch, stones, acorns), this unit should be perfect for you. Ergonomics are very good, very easy to use. I don't understand the cord handling comments/issues some have

You can't beat the guarantee for these units , when they wear out you just take it to a repair store and they give you a new one. very handy with the trash can unit for picking up large volumes of leaves.

 "Not worth" 2009-11-24
By Mr. Bubba (northeast)
Not worth the money or effort, it constantly clogs up, so you need to constantly unclog it. I rather rake and pick the leaves up myself, it's quicker....

 "Iworx blower vac" 2009-12-19
By Michael Puckett (Williamsburg, VA United States)
I bought this blower/vac after seeing several commercials for it thinking that maybe someone had come up with a new approach to the lawn/leaf wars. Although it is as good as any other blower/vac I"ve used in the past, it didn't knock my socks off as I had hoped. It is easier to switch from blower to vac operation with one single flip of a switch,...much easier in fact over having to stop and remove attachments. That's it single most postitive attribute.

Beyond that, it's pretty much the same as all others. It is heavier than I thought and the ergonomic design which is suppose to let the user hold his or her arm straight when in use probably is accurate if you are six feet tall or more, but if you are short (like me 5'6") it still requires contortions to keep from arm fatigue.

All in all, it's worth the money , but there are many other options on the market. This one has a better bagging system that most. I was a victim of over marketing I think. The hype and the reality don't jive.

I haven't had the opportunity to use this too much -- since we got snow right after the device arrived, but when I have used it, it seems very easy to handle. I'm a 72-year-old woman, and it is easy for me to use.
