My Eureka broke (bearing on the brush roller went out) and rather than wait a week for a replacement part I picked up this vacuum.



It only takes two screws to install the handle and then it's ready to go. It works great, better than the one it replaced. I thought the "dirt finder" was just a gimmick but that seems to be pretty accurate. I have two dogs and a six year old and I vacuum almost every day. It's been almost a week since my vacuum broke and the Hoover cleaned up everything easily and with the HEPA bag, no sneezing. I'm no vacuum connoisseur, I push it, it picks everything up and I'm happy. So far, I am happy with my purchase.



The only thing is, I didn't purchase it from Amazon. I got it at S**'* Club for 69.91. For that price it is hard to beat. I did order my replacement belts and bags from Amazon though.

I have a dog, 2 cats, small kids and mostly hardwoods and area rugs. I bought this vacuum based on Consumer Reports high rating for my needs. The self propelled function works great in the one room with wall to wall carpet, but on the tile and hard woods, the vacuum is careening out of control. It sounds like a screeching race car and then bumps hard into my furniture and molding along the walls. It already has numerous scratch and scuff marks and we just can't control it well. I switched from a 10 year old Oreck and was used to holding the baby while I vacuumed so she wouldn't be afraid of the noise. This one is so ridiculously loud, I think the neighbors can tell I'm vacuuming. The pet hair attachment works well, but the powerful suction sucks the short hose even shorter so you have to really use some muscle to get it to the couch. The suction is great on the vacuum in general. I also don't really appreciate the clean and dirty lights because the "dirty" light remains on even on a brand new area rug. Noise and steering are the biggest reasons that I would not recommend this vacuum and I'm buying a different one after only 6 months.

I expect a vacuum cleaner to be able to pick up bits of paper, and scattered kitty litter off a hardwood floor. I've reread the instructions many times and have not succeeded in getting this machine to work on hardwood floors.



It's very good on carpets, but I have area rugs and hardwood floors and need to be able to switch from one surface to the other. The hose is very short, and the suction isn't so good on that either. This vacuum cleaner just doesn't do a good job of cleaning.



It's very loud! Our very patient, wonderful downstairs neighbors actually called us when they first heard us use it because they couldn't figure out what could be making so much noise. This is the first time in 12 years that they've called us about making noise.

I've never owned an earlier version of FoodSaver, so I can't compare different models. But this one has done an excellent job for me for the past 2 yrs. I had no problem to insert/cut/seal bags. I wish that I could use it w/ regular bags and w/ less waste of bags -- who doesn't want to save a penny or two -- but I am happy w/ this model. I find it particularly useful for the followings:



- canister vegetable/berries to keep them fresh

- canister coffee beans or nuts

- marinate steak/meat/fish. If you tend to forget to marinate food according to recipes like I often do, half hour of marination using the FoodSaver can get the content very flavorful.

- bag seal fish/meat before freezing

- vacuum wine bottles. Wine still tastes good the 2nd day. Much better than the Rabbit vacuum we owned earlier



I found the following could cause the problems like bags/jars not sealing properly, and I solved the issues by making some corrections:



- not allowing anytime between sealing will make the machine too hot to operate properly. I often do that and can sometimes get away w/ it. But when the machine complains, I'll just wait a bit like 20sec. before sealing the next bag.

- bags leak air after sealing or canister takes longer to vacuum. It could be caused by some part of food got stuck at the seal. Solution is to make sure that the bag/canister are clear of any food at the sealing line.

- when the bag is too full, i.e. only the minimum amount of bag margin is left, the machine won't work. So I will just leave a bit more room in the bag.



All in all, I am happy with it.

Any woman (or man) in the kitchen does NOT want to spend time sweet talking this machine to get it to work.

It DOES waste bag material. My guess is this was an "intentional added feature" by the manufacturer to sell more bags. At $40 a roll that gets expensive. You do need at least 3" of extra "top" space to seal the food inside the bag. (another waste)



Don't even THINK about saving anything moist in these bags - when the seal gets the least bit damp it won't seal.



I've read all the reviews, (too late) and all I can do is hope it does the job I bought it for. That's to save the steaks, meat, etc with NO freezer burn. If not, back to SAMS !!! For now 2 stars.

I've wanted one of these things for a long time and finally received the model v3835 FoodSaver over Christmas.



Pros:

The only pro is the space saving design. I would much rather have the larger unit and have it work well. I'm surprised this model even made it out of their QA department.



Cons:

a.) Very loud. The other models may be the same but I didn't think these would be this loud. You can hardly talk to someone next to you while sealing food.



b.) Wasted space due to auto-seal mechanism. Many people have complained on this and I have to agree. You should be able to seal the bag right near the end, but this model forces you to waste a good 2" of space on average. If you're lucky you can get it to trigger with a little less bag, but results are not consistent.



c.) Failed sealing. Many times the unit would error out after a minute of running. The manual says this can be caused by the gasket being loose or the bag inserted incorrectly. I tripled checked everything and still had this problem regularly. It also happened with the one of the marinating containers so I know it wasn't related to how I had the bag inserted.



In summary, I would not recommend this unit. How they got it to work so perfectly (even with someone very familiar with how to use it) on the infomercial is beyond me. It shouldn't be this temperamental. I really want a FoodSaver that works well and may consider an older model as others have recommended. For now everything has gone back to the store as a return.

I've only had this ill-fated machine since October last year. That is only 3 months ago that I've gotten it.



It worked fine up until about 1-1/2 weeks ago, when at first, the heater strip had stopped working. Then it started working again,then the pump motor wouldn't suck all of the aire out of the bags, stopping just short of having some air in the bags, and then the heater strip would seal the bags, fooling the unit into thinking that it produced an air-tight seal.



But the sealing was still too loose - inviting air into the bags which still paves the way for freezer burn and food spoilage in the freezer!



I bought this machine in hopes of avoiding the pitfalls and problems that I've encountered with this co's lower priced units. But I found out that even with the most expensive machine, which this is,the blasted problems from the other units have followed me right to this one just like a annoying cancer!!!



This is it!! I'm done! I'm SO DONE with this company's ill-fated piece-of-junk vacuum sealers!!! This is the 4th FoodSaver machine that has crapped out on me too prematurely!! Getting an industrial one the next time that I'm ready to buy one. Until then, I'll just happily stick with the no-frills but reliable Ziploc Hand Pump Vacuum Bag Sealer.



I've HAD it with FoodSaver!! No more will I put up with their inferior quality and flimsily-made machines!!!!!!!!!

At first I hated this thing because the unit was not clicking into the charger all the way (this I didn't know) and it would run for about 10 seconds and quit. I had it mounted behind the fridge (don't ask why) and it was a reach, to say the least. So I'm not sure if it was the design of the charger or the awkward location I put it in, causing the charging problem. Suffice it to say I would have liked an LED indicator light to let me know if it was charging. Other than that, it works well and I'm happy with it.

My kids know I got them with this one! Now I can handle all the crumbs that never seemed to stop falling off the dining table and finding their way to my carpet. I did my regular steam cleaning of my carpet with my bigger Hoover before the holidays and this smaller Hoover S1120 has been helping it to stay clean. It picks up ALL the crumbs even the ones on the table! The spills are not spared either. I love this baby Hoover just like I do the bigger Hoover steam cleaner.

This Hoover hand held vacuum is light weight just as I wanted it. The noise is low too, so that I can use it even when my little one has fallen asleep on her high chair, without waking her up.

This is a great buy if you want your bigger cleaning job to last.

I just received the Nespresso Aeroccino Plus for Christmas and I agree with all of the previous reviews. This milk frother is amazing! I have used a La Pavoni espresso maker for years and the steam wand has worked just fine. However, the Aeroccino Plus has several advantages over a steam wand. I add a shot of flavored syrup for cappuccinos to skim milk before I froth it. Now the foam is flavored which tastes like whipped cream and has the same consistency. The manufacturer recommends whole or semi-skimmed milk which may work even better. The foam does not collapse as with a steam wand. Also, since I am not using steam to froth the milk, I can make three more espresso drinks before I need to refill the La Pavoni. I am able to make espresso drinks more efficiently and faster since I do not need to spend time steam frothing. The milk is frothing automatically at the same time the espresso is being made. The Nespresso Aeroccino Plus will also froth soy milk if you are so inclined, better than the most experienced barista. I froth with the lid off making the clean up easier because now there is no need to clean the top or the lid seal. The milk is very hot and does not spill out the top. I bought the Nespresso on Amazon not just because of price but also because I could not find it in any mall store or coffee shop. It is not a kitchen gadget and retailers are making a big mistake by not stocking this well designed and elegant product. It is worth the money and I recommend it highly.

I received my Aeroccino Plus on Friday and have been testing it the last couple of days. I'm an experienced barista and take my espresso, latte and cappucino seriously. First, you can't beat a traditional manual espresso maker with a good steam wand. Using the steam wand on my machine, I get good consistent micro foam which brings out the natural sweetness of the milk. The trouble is that it takes a good 2 to 3 minutes each time which adds to prep time in the mornings before work. Also, when you're having a party and everyone wants a cappucino, I spend more time in front of my espresso machine than with guests. I wanted to try the Aeroccino plus as an alternative knowing it couldn't replace the steam wand on my Ms Silvia.

Aeroccino Plus comes with 2 milk "stirrers" spun by a magnet under the bottom of the insert. One stirrer is whisk-like which whips air into the milk for a thick foam used in cappucinos and the other stirrer is just a paddle which incorporates minimal air while the milk is being heated. The big plus is that time is reduced dramatically. In less than one minute, the milk is frothed and heated which cuts down on prep time. The frothing is not bad but as suspected not quite micro bubbles. Using the whisk like stirrer, the milk comes out rather thick...good for cappucinos. The one criticism I have is the capacity of the machine. The holder is marked with 2 levels (one for each stir application). The first time I used it and filled to the lower level and stirred with the whisk stirrer, I found you could not put the lid on because soon after the stirring started, the milk over flowed and spilled out. This means you can add barely enough milk for a single shot. The second time I tried it, I filled it to the higher level marked for the paddle stirrer. The milk heated fast but the micro bubbles didn't quite happen...the milk came out a little thinner than ideal. But overall, for the convenience and speed, I really can't complain. I've resigned to use the convenience and quickness of the Aeroccino plus on week days when I'm rushing for work but sacrifice a little on quality. Then on weekends when time is not as much as an issue, I'll go back to the manual steam wand on Ms Silvia for my perfect latte. I know the Plus has a higher capacity than previous version but I would have liked to have just a little more capacity.

If you are concerned about money and getting a vac worth your money, this would be a good option. I have tried other vacs and this was the only one I didn't want to return immediately. I bought other models from the Shark family, and they just couldn't do the jobs I needed. I have two dogs, a messy hobby-enthusiast husband, and a toddler. Lots of mess to clean up! This vac does a pretty good job, but not one I would use while the baby is sleeping. We have LOTS of pet hair (80lb Mastive/german shepperd with long hair & small 9 lb terrier) and a hardwood floor. It gets most of it up and I don't have to go over it a bunch of times. We also have a large area rug that attracts hair and fuzz, it gets that up real easy on the high setting. I do wish that the head on the floor was smaller to get under my cabinets though. I use this on a daily basis, stores well in our closet, and battery life seems great so far - owned it a little over a month. Hope this helps!

I got this as a Christmas gift and I really like it.

We have a dog and it sucks up her hair relly well. I am pregnant so I did not want to be carring out regular vac. up and down the steps all the time. This product is light weight and you can get in to spots that your reg. vac. goes not get. We have hardwood steps and I can us it on them too. I find myself cleaning the floors more b/c this vac. is so easy to use. The battery does not last as long as I would hope for but the pros out way the cons w/ this product. Do not use this product to replace your reg. vac. but it is very nice to have for day to day use in between the weekly cleaning.

I am really happy w/ this product and my 17 months old son really likes playing w/ it too:)

Terrible disappointment



Battery life is terrible. You can hear it start to die after about 3 minutes of turning it on, and it will completely die after less than 10 minutes.



Roller brush was total crap...stopped after the second time using it (being fully charged), and it wouldn't start, even after I pulled the little hair that was in it out. Not that it picked up a whole lot anyway...it had terrible suction!



My mom has bought 2 shark products, and this was my first (will be going back tomorrow). Apparently, both steam cleaner, and cordless sweeper were crap...I didn't know at the time of my purchase, which I had :(



Just trust, me DO NOT GET THIS VACUUM...it was a terrible decision.



Pros: cordless (but so are most vacuums these days), good suction in the first 5 seconds of using it...only 5 seconds, and the really only good thing: good maneuverability

Cons: terrible battery life, defective roller brush, terrible suction, dust cup/filter area gets clogged easily

I bought this vacuum because it had great reviews on here. However, it works for literally 10 minutes TOPS. You can hear it dying about 10 seconds after you turn it on. The battery does not work for any length of time. I am VERY disappointed with it. When it does work it works great! But that's for 2 minutes. I wouldn't bother spending money on it, which is sad. It had such potential.

Okay, was very excited to replace our other shark cordless vac but BOY am I disappointed! While this one looks great, it jams EVERY time I use it. It even has a few written lines on the product telling you what to do IF it Jams... Should rename this product Jam Vac. VERY disappointed. I have long hair, so does my daughter, but surely this product can handle quick pick ups of crumbs left by a 3 year old without JAMMING on me? Requiring me to sit down, put it on my lap and remove the hair that has jammed it. Shark products should perform better than this.
